"Lost in the Grooves" is the name of Hec's second book, about a certain framework of albums and songs. So it's kind of directed at him.
oh I know that, of course!
I just don't personally know what would make an album underappreciated. I understand the criteria. I'm just not that familiar with music crit.
That's okay. I'll fake like I know and just slip in a song I like. Then play dumb if anybody questions me. It'll be easy!
I love the categories but... (there's always something to criticize...) 19 and 22 are kind of the same thing, no?
19 and 22 are kind of the same thing, no?
Not really. "Big old jet airliner" references technology, but not science.
I may be leaving this one blank:
A song that you would sing to yourself if you were ever in a dire situation and needed it to keep going
I damn well wouldn't sing (or whistle) in a situation like that.
These look great! I'm psyched for this. Though it looks like I'll have to do some googling for the cowbell one, since I can't think of anything I own that actually has cowbell.
I can't think of anything I own that actually has cowbell.
You don't own "Honky Tonk Women"?
And I can't think of ANY songs with cowbell!
Well, just for the record, because this song kept coming up in connection with the "More cowbell" reference, the Queens of the Stonage song
Little Sister
does not actually contain cowbell. I'm pretty cure that's a wood block.
Kate -- don't you have "Hey Ladies"? Best. Cowbell. Ever.
Thanks so much for all the bridge explication!

I was thinking of 19 and 22 more like DX, but by combining the two, we could bring in one of the other great categories (like, say, great song/mediocre band).
Also, as much as I like them, I'd be glad to cut Lost In the Grooves and Cowbell for others if they're going to be too nebulous or difficult.
