I feel like I just about new musiced myself out in 05.
I and a friend have decided on Feb. 8 for our Devin Davis at the Hideout night if any Chicago folk are still thinking about it.
You can hear a bunch of Davis mp3s right here.
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Neither did I. That is cool.
I came in to mark Corwood's best of 05 list since Air We Breathe is still one of my most listened to albums and has resulted in the most new to me music purchases in the past 2 years.
anyhoo - I will also report that my new month on emusic just started and tonight I downloaded:
The Mountain Goats - The Sunset Tree
Iron & Wine/Calexico - In The Reins
Caitlin Cary & Thad Cockrell - Begonias
Sweet! I'm working on a My Favorite New Music of 05 mix, which I intend to complete and send to Tina, along with the Best of 04 mix I've owed her for over a year now.

All excellent choices msbelle! You are really going to like Begonias, I think. If I can pimp just ONE song to you it would be "Carolina" by M. Ward off of his album End of Amnesia. I will happily refund you with any song from my account sent to buffistarawk if you don't totally love it.
My account refreshes in exactly 56 minutes and though I will be in bed by then my first download tomorrow will be Robert Pollards' From a Compound Eye. Which will cost me 26 tracks darn it. Oh, RP - why for do you have to have so many songs per album?!?

Also sweet!
I can return the favor with my best of 05 mix as well.

That man acts like his every half-thought is brilliant. Fortunately, he's generally right.

Little I can say to that besides AWESOME.

Uh-huh. And the thing is you can't just grab a couple tracks because it will be track 17 that has four kind of boring songs before it and five really kind of bad songs after it that is just KILLER.
Whenever I end the month at emusic with some left over in my account (not often) I collect a little more GBV and Yo La Tengo. I have just about every YLT that they've got but I've got a ways to go with GBV. I am just happy they have so much though.
Ha! I've been doing the same with a couple of albums, just trickling them in. That Yo La 3-disc set from the past year was next in my radar. At least, the tracks from it I don't already have, 'cause I have all the studio albums & a bunch of EPs.
