I'd prefer it aim at an uninhabited atoll, frankly. I wish it on no one.

Silence means security silence means approval

Is it true that Rita is aimed straight at Crawford? It would be sweetest irony if it were.

As of right now... should be there Saturday night, though it may end up a little to the east. DFW on Sunday, Tulsa on Monday (but a depression by then), possibly KC on Tuesday.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

In effect, we could be looking at the biggest, baddest hurricane ever seen in the Atlantic basin by the time the West Coast gets Letterman. When the name "Gilbert" is being bantered around, it's time to get waaaay the heck inland ASAP.

Yikes. Lots of be safe~ma for people in the area.

The list for durability is somewhat different than for love:

Hey, cool, 2002 Chevy Malibu (current car) got best entry mid-sized. That's good to know. (Though my research when I was looking to buy it last year listed it as having a high dependability rating.)

Of course, with my luck, I'll leave work tonight to discover it has spontaneously combusted in the parking lot.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Well, yes, there's the little matter of some innocent people living in the way. I'm just looking at the big picture. :-)

Our wings are not tired

Crap. My sister and my niece live in Houston. Cypress to be specific. I think they are out of town right now. I hope so.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

This is why my Texas gulf-coast relatives build their houses on stilts. (The one time I met some of them, they were talking about the crazy new people moving in and building houses right there on the ground! Dopes.) I certainly hope they're all OK/evacuating/something. Should call my grandmother.

I was just discussing developments with S. She has a lot of family in Houston. She's on the phone to family right now.
