You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Huh?

Fill 5-g. Empty into 7-g. Fill 5-g again. Fill 7-g from 5-g (takes 2 g), empty 7-g. Pour remaining 3 g from 5-g into 7-g. Fill 5-g again, fill 7-g with 4 g, you're left with 1 g.

General rule: if you need x gallons, find multiples of your two jugs' capacities that are x apart. So for 1 gallon, 3*5 gallons is 15 gallons, and 2*7 gallons is 14 gallons. The difference is your 1 gallon. So three refills of the 5-gallon jug lets you fill the 7-gallon jug twice, and have 1 gallon left over.

Ooh, a system. I like those. Although the way I did it was a bit different, and probably wasteful.

Unlike pouring out 14 gallons of water to get 1 gallon. Geez, invest in some other measuring jugs, people!

What BT said.

Emily, whatever answer they were looking for, if they want you to figure out how to get a single gallon with the 5 and 7 galoon jugs, your answer should be -- "I go to the nearest convenience store and buy a GALLON OF WATER."

PS: 'gallon' now looks thoroughly strange to me. Like it was foisted on us by aliens. Imperial stormtroopers, obviously. t /metric humour

Swouncing

Skipping lots and poking head while it's still the 19th on b.org time to apologize for not having any computer access at all yesterday, so failing to post that, according to the Buffista Calendar, the 19th was a double Buffista event, with both lori's birthday and PMM and her DH's anniversary. Belated wishes for a great year for them all!

Oh, and today (for me, already, anyway), is Sue's birthday, so lots of wishes for her!

Art Crawl!!!

I watched both HIMYM and KC and liked them both. Also AD, which, despite the many fans it has on this board I had, for some reason never seen -- I really enjoyed it.

I think that KC is probably going to be the less usual of the two conflicting ex-BTVS cast shows.

Also, Phil Keoghan (sp?) is on the Late Late Show tonight.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Was it lori's birthday? Happy birthday, you rocket scientist!

Belated anniversary wishes for Plei & Paul.

Happy birthday to Sue too!

It was a propitious day.

No, Sue is on the 20th, on the following day from lori. September was a good Buffista month, though.

(Not here, I'm really not here.)

Hey, by board time, you're not late with the wishes, which means neither am I. So...

Happy Birthday, lori!

Happy Anniversary, Plei and DH!

And now I go from board time to my time for

Happy Birthday, Sue!

Sleepy time now. Nice to see you, Nilly, even though you're not really here.
