The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Welcome home, ita. I haven't looked at the pictures yet, but I bet they are wonderful.

What is even happening?

Oh, the falls are so beautiful, too. And I love the name Lake Elementaita.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Tow the line and free reign don't bother me much, because although I know toe the line and free rein are the correct versions, the mistakes a bit of sense. Towing a line (that is, rope), and free reign (rule) are possibilities.

For some reason the fact the mistakes make a certain sense just makes them bug me more--it's not a pure misspelling or typo, but a misunderstanding of the metaphor. Which tends to make me all Grumpy Old Woman about people not reading enough and not understanding language and history as much as I think they should.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Welcome back, ita. Wow, I wish we hadn't already selected weather-themed photos for part of the project I'm currently working on—I'd have made a business proposition to you on a couple of those shots.

I had a fun day this afternoon at the anual street fair held by the local artsy-craftsy gayborhood. Said hi to friends, heard some good music, enjoyed lamb kebabs and sno-cones, and fried crispier than the spring rolls I started the event off with. Alas, I never bumped into Hottie Venezualan Guy who was attending with some friends, but at least got my ogling time in courtesy of the shirtless lead singer of a punk band playing in the yard of the local indie video store.
