Fred: So you don't worry that it's possible for someone to send out a biological or electronic trigger that effectively overrides your own sense of ideals and values and replaces them with an alternative coercive agenda that reduces you to a mindless meat puppet? Shopkeeper: Wow. People used to think that I was paranoid.

Alabama-South Carolina.

Oh, this means when I next talk to my brother, he'll have crazy fan stories. Those crack me up. He's categorically not a football fan. But...he's at UAB. He's surrounded by them. They kinda freak him out. Even more than his FIL, the rabid NASCAR fan, freaks him out.

Toured houses. Found a new nest of rowhouses that are NICE and AFFORDABLE. Like killer affordable and not embedded in sketchsville. So. That's good. Tired. Amazing what 5 hours getting on and off buses in heat and humidity can do.

I need to clean. Maybe after TAL.

What is even happening?

It makes me bananas when people pronounce "conch" with a soft "ch". It's KONK, dammit.

I did that for the longest while.

Actually, both are correct. Look it up.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

new trigonometry without sines, cosines and tangents

Huh. Interesting. Now I'm curious how that works.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Now I'm curious how that works.

Here's a Slashdot article and a book about it.

Thanks, Tom. My computer is being a pain and won't let me look at the sample PDF chapter right now, but I'll take a look later.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Actually, both are correct. Look it up.

Huh.

Well, I reserve my right to still hate it.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Finally watched Supernatural -- good and creepy! Definitely a keep-downloading-er.

Yeah, I liked Supernatural. I'm looking forward to the next couple of episodes. Also liked Threshold, mostly for Peter Dinklage, as I said before. We'll see how that holds up through the next few episodes.

Oh, I almost forgot about Threshold (which I keep thinking should have another 'h' in there). Time to fire up another torrent.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

People writing "in tact" when they mean "intact" makes me want to weep. "Taken for granite" does too.

I'm watching Jeff Corwin catch a black mamba. I love this guy, but why the hell isn't he dead?
