Now tagless for your comfort.

Yup, Nora. I think that's why Bush had such a delayed reaction to Katrina. I think Rove was with Bush on the last two days of his vacation but it was then that Turd Blossom started pissing blood (couldn't happen to a nicer guy, if you ask me). He was briefly hospitalized for it.

We've all seen what we get when Karl's not there to prompt Jr. into action. He was back on the case early this week, though. Which, included prepping Dubya for his speech last night.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Why is it, the one day this week I didn't have to work, I woke up at 7:30?

I thought about making myself French toast, but it seemed like too much effort to clean out the pan. So I'm having already-cooked bacon and a Dr. Pepper.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I'm thinking I should re-jigger my routine.

And get a dog to take to doggie daycare

So I just got a summons for jury duty, and I'm all conflicted. Apparently I can postpone, so I guess I should put it off until school's out, but that means actually picking a specific date about 10 months in the future!

I'm leaving for jury duty in about 10 min.! I got one back when I was in college and took the exemption. They didn't make us pick another day we could do it. You just check the little box that says "I am a student at a public or private secondary school or I am enrolled and in acutal attendence at an institution of higher learning." and send it in before the date you are supposed to show up. (I didn't memorize that; I have the summons in front of me.)

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I had jury duty a couple of years ago. It was kind of interesting, but luckily the whole schmere didn't take more than a day.

Dana, hey! I saw the pictures of your parents' house. It's unbelievable. I hope your dad is right and that it is salvagable. My cousin's mom is going back Monday, and I'm trying to get her a press pass so she can move around a bit more and check on some stuff. I'm going to see if they can maybe get some pictures of our areas. Much sympathy to you and yours.

I'm kinda hoping it won't take more than a few hours. I'm an idealistic liberal in Texas, no way any prosecutor wants me on that jury. Besides, they usually send a bunch of people home before they even get to the picking part.

Off to do my civic duty.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

Huh. Mine doesn't have such a box. I can be disqualified for not being a citizen, being over 70 or under 18, not speaking English, not living in the county, convicted of a felony, having already served, being physically or mentally incapable, or a primary care-giver for a permanently disabled perosn. That's it. And then I can request an alternate site if it'll be too hard for me to get to the courthouse, but it doesn't say anything about being a student.

Call them and ask maybe?
