No. You're missing the point. The design of the thing is functional. The plan is not to shoot you. The plan is to get the girl. If there's no girl, then the plan, well, is like the room.

Signed, She Whose Mother Likes Giving Hannukah Gift Certificates In Multiples Of 18

Most of the checks that are given here for weddings are in multiplication of that.

What is even happening?

And especially for Cindy: the sum of the letters that combine the word "good" in Hebrew ('tov') is? Yup, 17 (9+6+2).

What is the sum for the letters that combine to make Nilly?

Is this gerematryia (I may have mangled that spelling).

Oh, yeah. I did. I meant germatria.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Jesse, everyone wants to know my opinions. That is a universal given.

Uh huh. OK.

Remind me I should probably have a new job lined up before I quit this one?

I don't make that much here that I'd even need a big payoff. I could win enough to quit off a scratch card, easy.

In Hebrew, my name has 4 letters. It's 50+10+30+10 = 100.

Is this gerematryia

Jessica will probably know better than me how to spall that in English letters, but yup, that's it - assigning numerical values to letters.

You can play with it further, if you like, and go to "small gimatriya" - the single-digit sum of all the numbers. If you get a number with more than one digit, add the digits. Repeat until you've got just the one left. so if the value is 18 you get 1+8=9. If the value is 97 you get 9+7=16 and 1+6=7. With my name, for example, you'll get 1+0+0=1.

Some people like to play with these numbers-letters (and it's fun). Some put huge significance in them (as in, if the gimatriya of your name is such-and-such you need to marry a man with a name with the gimatriya of such-and-such), but in my eyes, doing so is a bit on the side of superstition.

I'm picky. If a job isn't interesting and/or well paid, I'd want to be able to screw around online.

Also, I was sitting next to a guy on the train the other day who was clearly just getting off a shift working with a deep fryer, and it was NASTY.
