Happy Birthday Polter-Cow!
What is a Bruin?
n.
1. A bear.
A Bruin is like a Red Sox player; only far more unsung; less concerned with grooming, teeth, and social niceties. A Bruin is paid less; performs for fewer people and never in the light of day; on skates, often backwards. A Bruin expects to have a stick taken to his head at any given moment, and play on. A Bruin might be locked out for an entire season, but knows only a comparable few notice never mind object, because hockey isn't baseball.
If a vampire, homicidal maniac, or Karl Rove is headed straight for you, when you find yourself in a room full of players from the New England Patriots, the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Celtics, and the Boston Bruins, go Bruins. Choose Bruins. Hide behind the Bruin.
I dunno, some of those Patriots are very large men, so as to afford more hiding-behind space.
Depends if you're going for concealment or defense, I suppose.
And thus, you reveal your non-native status.
Timelies all!
Happy Birthday P-C!
Ugh, the snot monster is still residing in my sinuses. And to top it all off, I've had trouble sleeping the last couple of nights. Part of it is the can't-breathe-through-my-nose problem, but the other part is simply being wide awake when I shouldn't be. I don't know if it's because the Benedryl isn't working, or if the Sudafed is keeping me up long past the time when it was actually decongesting me. Feh...
HBD P-C!
So I was all ready to be Ms Super-Efficient today and go to the library before I have to be at work at 10, but no. I am thwarted. The library doesn't open until 10.
Sheryl, a lot of people find that Sudafed works like a stimulant. It's chemically related to adrenaline, so I guess that isn't a big surprise. I'm lucky that it gives me only a little of that, because it's the only decongestant that doesn't double as a sleep aid for me!
Happy Birthdays, P-C and Herah!
P-C, how are the job and job hunt going?
I napped half of yesterday, thanks to Benadryl, so I am thinking, that is NOT the way to go. Sudafed makes me wide awake, but it also convinces me I am breathing through sandpaper.
I know the snot monster well, yes.
I know very little of the Bruins, except that when I was a kid, hockey was that strange cult that people joined, and never returned from. In those days, it seems like it was a badge of honor to have lost teeth (and continued play after the losing thereof). I don't know if hockey players were/are all just speed freaks, or masochists, or boxing fans.
Still and all, the New England Patriots average 280 lb. per person on their defensive line, and their whole job is to make vertical people get horizontal. In a closed room, like a barfight, go with the Bruins; but in a wide-open space, the Patriots Flying Tackle may be your better option.
(Baseball players, despite their enthusiasm, have few to no skills that help with fighting. The Red Sox's most recent "brawls" have involved attempted pile-drivings, the pulling of uniforms (in the absence of hair long enough), and two guys attempting to claw each other's eyes out, like the S4 Xander slapfight.)
