I'll be fine. I'll be your bounty, Jubal Early. And I'll just fade away.

What is even happening?

ita, have a wonderful trip. How long will you be gone?

What? It's in Africa too! ;)

Hee! We have a new family at our school. They're here from Alaska. Maybe I should ask Juliana and Libkitty if they know them.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I won't be gone near long enough, considering -- I'll be back on the 17th.

Talk about a lack of judgment:

Oscar winner Jamie Foxx erupted on the set of his new movie Miami Vice after learning of a racist prank played on his stand-in. The Ray star reportedly insisted that two insensitive crew members were dismissed after they approached David Brown holding nooses, suggesting that he and Foxx were heading for a Ku Klux Klan-style lynching. Publicists for the movie confirm the incident took place but refuse to comment further. But an insider on the set tells US tabloid National Enquirer, "Jamie was absolutely infuriated with the blatant racism. To him and David, the joke was a reference to the common practice of lynching black people in the American south during slavery days. Jamie came stomping out of his dressing room and demanded an explanation from the crew members involved. They realized they had gone too far with the joke but an apology was far too little and too late for Jamie."

And I don't mean the judgment to be or not be racist -- I mean the judgment to not get fucking busted at work for being horribly tasteless and offensive.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Good god. What is wrong with some people?

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

That's appalling.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Egad. Not least because racially-motivated lynchings continued long after slavery ended.

Also, just saw this:

Of course, a humid, polluted metropolis that combines the innovative urban planning of Sugarland, Texas with the vibrant, multiethnic culture of Greenwich, Conn. might not be quite as big of a tourist draw.

Sounds like my soundbite description of Houston after my first trip there -- New Orleans without the personality. (I stayed near the Galleria, and it was a business trip involving a very contentious matter, so I'll now admit that I may not have had a complete picture.)

Now tagless for your comfort.

How can people still be so fucking stupid???

According to the Boston Foundation and the Citizens' Housing and Planning Association's "Housing Report Card" cost of living is the highest in the country. [link]

Hmm. I thought LA's median housing prices still beat out Boston, though. But that's just my sense of things, not backed up by facts.

The cost-of-living ranking comes from the Economic Policy Institute, a nonpartisan Washington think tank.

So I guess it's not just a Boston oriented organization leading this charge.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Timelies,

6 hours of sleep last night. Not great, but an improvement at least.

Woke up this morning to find my cable modem working. I'm on the fence as to whether I should cancel the service call for this morning or not, I mean it's been down since Wednesday with no explanation from Comcast and I'm wondering if my cable modem is slowly dying. I'd like to know for sure what's wrong, but I don't know if the service guy is just going to go "Well, it's working now. See ya."

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

We have a new family at our school. They're here from Alaska. Maybe I should ask Juliana and Libkitty if they know them.

It's a small state sometimes. One of us just might.

ita, have a wonderful trip! So very exciting.
