Inara: Who's winning? Simon: I can't tell. They don't seem to be playing by any civilized rules that I know.

Always Anti-fascist!

How much do I love the Big Dog? Enough to take in the dry cleaning.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

So, at this count, LA residents are being sent to:

Houston (and several other cities in TX), now Phoenix, and soon West Virginia.

Is there some reason why Arkansas and Oklahoma are being brushed over if people are going to Arizona and WV?

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Has this been linked yet? Variations on Bush's "fantastic new Gulf coast" comment:

The good news is -- and it's hard for some to see it now -- that out of this chaos is going to come a fantastic Republic, like it was before. Out of the remains of Anakin Skywalker's humanity -- he's lost his entire humanity -- there's going to be a fantastic new person. And I'm looking forward to ruling the galaxy with him.

The good news---and this may be hard for some to see it now---is that our of the ruins of Mordor there is going to come a whole new Mordor. Out of what's left of Sauron---and he's lost his entire body---there's going to be erected a great whole new tower. And I look forward to sitting on its battlements eye-to-eye with him, and laughing at the small angry men with burning faces and hairy feet with him.

crazy shit:

To the citizens of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, I say, look at the good news. Not only have you been liberated from an oppressive empire, but soon you'll have giant radioactive monsters to aid in the reconstruction efforts.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I wonder why I can't get into Nadal's youthful exuberance. I liked it on Becker, I adored it on Safin.

It might be the manpris. I'm not sure. But he bugs the fuck out of me. So far, this timeshifted Blake/Nadal match is making me only a little tense. And, dude, last night's Federer/Santoro match was also tense, not least of all because TiVo cut out.

I am going to marry this comment and have its babies:

Reporter: And what do you call this government?

Bush: The Aristocrats!

[edit: Actually, I'm just going to steal it for my tag.]

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

1:50 P.M. - NEW YORK (AP) -- A convoy of 70 city buses, accompanied by an assortment of support vehicles and volunteers, departed lower Manhattan on Saturday morning for a 24-hour trip south to help evacuate victims of Hurricane Katrina.

The caravan, including another 47 vehicles from the city police and mass transit, was expected to arrive in New Orleans on Sunday to start ferrying victims of the hurricane out of the crippled Crescent City. They left from Police Headquarters, just a few blocks east of ground zero.
