On the upside, Jon Stewart's The Daily Show will pretty much write itself tonight.
Trent Lott and Christopher Hitchens are both scheduled to appear this week, too. I've already got my TiFaux! set.

I wonder why a co-worker is sitting there trying to get rid of a virus on his computer. He's been trying for hours, and he's not able to work. We sit between desktop support and Information Security -- and yet.
The Myth of Sisyphus must have special meaning to him, as in none.
It's better than the alternative?
Very true.
My issue with Pat Robertson and his ilk is that they still consider themselves Christians even though they seem to hate everything. What version of the Bible do they happen to be reading?
I always wonder that too. It's like, I don't think your Jesus and my Jesus would like each other very much, but my Jesus would love yours anyway.

I always love users like that. By the time they decide to call us they've managed to completely frag their OS or otherwise make things worse. They then try to justify it with "I was just trying to help." or worse "I don't know what happened. I called as soon as I noticed something was wrong."
I admit, I have one specific problem I always try to fix instead of calling, but that's because level 1 has never heard of the piece of software. Level 2 is often confused by its existence too.
But it's a really teeny proxy client, and doesn't break anything else.
The rest of it? I let them do. I am that lazy.
God, I want to listen to Smooth Criminal again. I've already listened to it three times this morning.

The original, or Alien Ant Farm's cover?

That's fine. There's a lot of programs that the users are more familiar with than we are, since they use them on a daily basis, and if they know how to fix it themselves, more power to them. I was just referring to people who will just start trying random crap until they've managed to break something else with no recollection of what they did.
What version of the Bible do they happen to be reading?
The abridged version, which leaves out "Thou shalt not kill" and "Love thy neighbor."
The original, or Alien Ant Farm's cover?
AAF. I can't think of another cover where I didn't dislike the original where I adore the new version so much.

I figure that deaing with someone who was in desktop support, but doesn't miss it has the advantage that -- I really don't want to fix stuff myself, but I can usually tell when it's easy and something I can do.

Yup. It's on my "Feel the Burn" playlist on the iPod. It's a fun song.
Happy Birthday, Kalshane!
Health and comfort to your aunt and family, tiggy.
