Most people is pretty quiet right about now. Me, I see a stiff -- one I didn't have to kill myself -- I just get, the urge to, you know, do stuff. Like work out, run around, maybe get some trim if there's a willin' woman about... not that I get flush from corpses or anything. I ain't crazy.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I don't understand why a boat flotilla wasn't already organized to take people out/off of the flooded houses?

During 9/11 in NYC, NJ private boat owners ferried thousands of people off of Manhattan. Granted, this was only across a river, whereas getting into NO is a quite a bit more complicated. But there are Zodiacs that can be brought in, inflated, and put to use very quickly.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Most of the boats in the NOLA vicinity would have been destroyed, along with the docks.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm so tired of being ashamed of our president. It's not just that he can't or won't solve important problems, it's that he doesn't even see that the problems exist.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

When Andrew struck we had truck loads of water in beer bottles being delivered by Miller Beer. They shut down their beer production and filled bottles with water.

A-B did this a couple days ago. They sent down close to 900,000 cans of water.

Bush's new nickname after this needs to be Emperor Nero.

Words fail me when trying to describe how appalled and disgusted I am with the utter cluster-fuck this has all been.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'm so tired of being ashamed of our president. It's not just that he can't or won't solve important problems, it's that he doesn't even see that the problems exist.

There was someone in his administration (I forget who) - he said that every administration has a political team, in addition to a policy team and other stuff, but he was amazed that the Bush administration only had the political team, a political POV. (I'm totally explaining this poorly.) He called the Bush adminstration the "Mayberry Machiavellians."

Obviously, he was punnished for this.

Ah, that's good to hear. No doubt there are a lot of private individuals and businesses doing a lot of good. It is just the people at the top who have spent untold dollars studying what to do in a disaster that are failing us.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Bush is speaking. Wonder if he'll mention Lott's beach house?

I look more rad than Lutheranism

"If the networks could figure out getting all their people and supplies in by Saturday night, why is it taking the federal government until Friday?"

You know, I work for a publisher -- we publish a monthly journal with subscribers all over the world, but mostly in the US. We don't mail the journals out from our offices; we have a company that does that for us.

My point? Our mailing company called today and said that they've already gone through our mailing list and pulled the addresses that are in Louisiana/Mississippi/Alabama, for the upcoming mailing.

If our mail service (NOTE: I don't mean the USPS; it's a private company that prepares the journals for mailing) can do that before the Feds get food and water to the survivors, that is fucking fucking SAD.
