"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Kathy,

You won't believe this (actually, maybe you will)...Lott's BEACHFRONT house was destroyed. His main house is in Jackson (I think) and is fine - last I heard.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Kathy, you're being very silly. Trent Lott has a very PRETTY house that was destroyed. If your shotgun shack or trailer home or just plain old casa is blown away its not the same kind of upsetting. Sheesh.

His WEEKEND PLACE was destroyed and he's a model of human suffering?

I'm going to vomit.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'm going to vomit.

If only the vomit could be packaged and sent to the appropriate people....

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Oh.my.God.

I figured he had at least one other house. I didn't think that the shrub was referring to the man's SUMMER HOME!!! Gah.

Did anyone catch Paula Zahn's interview with the FEMA suit, Mike Brown? It was three hours before Koppel's and the first time he trotted out the "we didn't know about the Superdome people" defense.

BROWN: Every person in that Convention Center, we just learned about that today...ZAHN: Sir, you aren't just telling me you just learned that the folks at the Convention Center didn't have food and water until today, are you? You had no idea they were completely cut off? BROWN: Paula, the federal government did not even know about the Convention Center people until today.

le nubian, do you have a link on it being his beach house? I have someone who needs a smacking with that fact.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Someone at DailyKos transcribed Mayor Nagin's interview with WWL, or at least big hefty chunks of it. Fierce and frustrated and eloquent.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

You know, it occurred to me that the last time there was a refugee situation this big in the US, it was the Dust Bowl. And we all know how well the Okies fared -- you may remember a little book called The Grapes of Wrath (which if anything, understated the problem).

I read somewhere recently that this is bigger than the dust bowl. And compressed into a far shorter time, of course.
