I'm a vision of hotliness, and how weird is that? Mystical comas. You know, if you can stand the horror of a higher power hijacking your mind and body so that it can give birth to itself, I really recommend 'em.

What is even happening?

Oh -t, it's so good to hear from you. I am so glad your parents are with you. I hope Henry is with you, soon. Much love and strength to you, dear. Please check in whenever you can, and safe travels to you, your family, and pets.

I just heard the NO Mayor's interview on WWL. Wow.

Did you hear the whole thing? I was watching CNN at ass o'clock this morning, and think they were carrying it, live. God bless him. "I don't know if it's the Governor's problem, or the President's problem, but somebody needs to get their ass on the plane, and do something."

I need to understand the rules here:

People this morning said that hurricane talk wasn't supposed to be here. I thought no hurricane talk was in Bitches and that hurricane talk could be here. Did I misunderstand?

le nubian,

No, you did not misunderstand.

I saw that, too. I think maybe that was Kathy A., and I think maybe she misunderstood what she read while catching up. There was also something by Kat (I think) saying she wouldn't come here for news, but that was just her individual opinion.

There are no rules on this, anywhere, but here's the deal for Bitches, for those who missed it...

Those of us who were in Bitches yesterday did sort of bullshit consense that there was a need for a media-report-free-zone -- an escape hatch. Then, the Bitches bullshit consensus was mentioned in Natter, in case any of the non-Bitch Natterers wanted to c'mon over, and escape for a while. It's only a bullshit consensus on our preference, not a rule--just a gentleBitches agreement.

Again, the bullshit consensus was only that Bitches would remain relatively free of the media reports and ensuing discussion. It was definitely NOT either supposed to be, nor did the consenting Bitches want it to be free from updates or discussion from Buffistas, such as -t, Dana, Heather, beth, and others affected/with loved ones who are affected. We very much want all that. It was only the news reports. Finally, there was no bullshit consensing involving Natter, at all.

Ann, that's a ferret.

That's my understanding too, Cindy. There's a gentles' agreement that hurricane talk in Bitches be limited to personal experience. So, for example, it's ok for -t to talk about her experiences and concerns there, but general grumbling about FEMA mismanagement is frowned on there.

Business as usual in all other threads.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

-t, it is wonderful to hear from you.

If there is ANYTHING you need when you get out here, please let me know.

So glad that you're okay -t!

-t, Heather, Dana, my heart to you. There's really nothing else I can say.

I think I need to sleep for a week, for no apparent reason. I'm just lazy.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I just really, really like that guy. I loved the call for a moratorium on press conferences. Essentially he wants people to stop talking and "get off their asses." You gotta love the candor--even if it's the product of extreme desparation.

You know one thing is scaring me (of the many)? That so much of the authorities seem to be reliant on the media to get their info. I mean, yay that all those journalists tromping around are getting the info out, but good god, they should be at least the secondary source for the emergency response people. And even then, it's like they aren't paying attention to the media.

Robert Siegel was practically daring Chertoff to call him a liar over the fact that there were people at the convention center. Chertoff kept dodging it, saying they had no such reports. DUDE. Siegel had John Burnett on the phone RIGHT THEN and THERE who way saying on the order of a couple thousand.

Chertoff's office did call back later to acknowlege they had since got reports, but christ. If you obviously don't know and people are telling you, for godsake.....

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I just heard the NO Mayor's interview on WWL. Wow.

I heard a short clip on NPR, where they bleeped his saying "goddamn". And then proceeded to ask America to excuse his French.

(Love that expression!) (No idea why swear words are French.)

Sounds like he put on his ass-kicking boots. As well he should. Usually, when El Salvador is offering you aid, it's bad enough for the ass-kicking to start.

I heard that and my jaw just dropped. How could he not know?
