Angel: I appreciate you guys looking out for Connor all summer. It's just—he's confused. He needs time. That's all. Fred: Right. Time, and some corporal punishment with a large heavy mallet. Not that I'm bitter.

Come and tell me what you think, Jen!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Bayistas: Kepler's bookstore in Menlo Park has closed for good.

That fuckin' sucks.

Oh, my. That movie is just going to break my heart in a hundred ways, isn't it? Into teeny, tiny little pieces.

I can't wait.

And in shallow news... they are so pretty!

Always Anti-fascist!

I've never been there, but closing bookstores=sad. Hec, Mom's gone back to short hair.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Oh, sad! There is at least one bit from the story they don't seem to have translated literally -- the greeting on the porch, but still.

I think so yes.

There is a LOT of pretty! And it looks pretty sweeping and moving and the sadness of cowboy love. The part where he's dancing the shirt is just beautiful and sad.

Good lord. I'm a grammar stupidhead today.

It's good. Lori's watching for a second time in 2 minutes.

Same here.

Yes, dancing with the shirt was just, well... teeny, tiny little pieces of heart.

Our wings are not tired.

Happy Birthday le nubian!

Rather on emotional overload here. Between the horrors from Katrina, and MIL's pending cancer surgery, and next door neighbor just had a brain tumor removed.

The day that Katrina briefly visited S. Florida I noticed the paramedics next door. When I called my neighbor to see what was up she said that her husband had pain in his head and had been taken to the hospital. She couldn't go with him because the hospital was closed to all but emergency workers due to the storm. The next day she finds out he has a brain tumor, metastasized from melanoma. They’ve removed the tumor, but he is in pretty rough shape. Not walking yet. He is an extremely fit 80 year old man. Works as a personal trainer. Teaches tennis. Goes to Hawaii every year to kayak. I’m sure his physical condition is working in his favor, but scary as all get out.

MIL is doing what needs to be done with getting referrals and such so she can have her surgery.

As soon as I get the kids settled down for the night I will have Brendon pick me up and bring me to the place where his pool team is playing. I think wine is required.
