Bah. I am thinking of the children and whatnot. I've got no gripe against Southerners, flyover-ers, red-staters, or any other group as a whole. When I say here's your hat, what's your hurry?, I'm actually specifically wishing that that particular little group of cranky righties would hole itself up in a nice cul-de-sac somewhere or sail off to foreign climes, declare itself seceded, theocratize to its hearts' content, and leave the rest of us alone. Actual large-scale secession and civil war would obviously be a nightmare and a tragedy for everyone; the extra-bilious and extra-hateful packing up their bile and hate and moving to some Craxy Island where they can be miserable and righteous together and the rest of us can get on with, well, everything, not such a nightmare, IMO.

'll bet that New Orleans proper was a blue spot on the more detailed maps of red and blue.
I seem to remember this being EXACTLY the case. I forget why I was looking up NO, but then as a general rule, most major cities went blue or at least deep purple.
The real culprit in the NO flooding disaster may well be skipped levee maintenance due to the War Against WMDs Against TerrorismFor Democracy, Etc. diverting money. As well as paving over wetlands....

That's what England did. The craxy people came and founded America.
I have a book, Things I Didn't Say, and the sequel, Things I Shouldn't Have Said is due out next month. Expect the hattrick, Things I Wish I'd Said in November '06.
I outgrew lists, long ago.

I saw that! Carry on.
My beef with flyover country relates primarily to its being so damn large. If it were smaller, I might be willing to visit it.
I mean, not that I go to Vermont either, but I could. In a day. And come back again for supper.
I have books just not a book. In fact, I'm kinda overwhelmed with books.
You know, there are people who don't live this way, and this perplexes me.
So, being selfishly happy for my friends who live in the Marigny, I'm wondering what this is going to do to property values in New Orleans?
I was wondering other things too, but having one relative who attended Tulane, I'm not sure that no-school-for-months will be noticed by many of the students. And it can only help the Saints standings.
How are they going to get the water out?
Coolish thing: my firm is matching Red Cross donations for Katrina
We just got the announcement that mine is matching donations too. We get about 5 charities to choose from, so I guess I need to go research which I like most.
