Mostly, I wonder where all these people will go, and what will happen to them. They're homeless, have no jobs to go to, lost an entire city. What happens to them, now?I can't. I have been crying all day, thinking about it. I think that's why I can't get het up about the looting. Everything is gone or going.

billytea, there are reports the French Quarter is flooding: [link] Scroll down to the applicable header (not too far down). That site states FOX News (sorry) is also reporting French Quarter flooding, but I didn't see it on the FOX site (it's hard to read with your eyes closed).

Maybe not disasters per se, but epic events. Where the New Orlenians showed how tough they were yet again.

Someone called them New Orleanders, and that struck me well, whether or not it's right, I can't say.
To be totally shallow for a second: I'm pissed that people with Fox are getting to two episodes of House, while I'm only getting one. And the one I'm not seeing is Three Stories.
A lot of the buildings in NO are still standing. They'll be stinky and need new drywall and carpeting, but they're THERE. Refitting a building which has flooded is much easier than rebuilding from scratch, which is what the folks in Biloxi and Gulfport will be doing. They will probably have temporary shelters until homes can be rebuilt. My Aunt had a home in Barneveld, Wisconsin, which was destroyed by one of the strongest Tornados ever recorded in '84. The entire town was flattened and all the buildings, electricity, water, etc, were shredded. 1/3 of the inhabitants were badly injured. They rebuilt much faster than you would believe possible. When I first went there in the late '80s, you wouldn't have known anything happened. I think there will be an outpouring of help from the building trades about this, and those guys can work hella quickly when inspired.
Also, I'm am unbearably angry with the POTUS, right now.
