Angel: I appreciate you guys looking out for Connor all summer. It's just—he's confused. He needs time. That's all. Fred: Right. Time, and some corporal punishment with a large heavy mallet. Not that I'm bitter.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I'm getting a hate on for Cingular because of dropped calls. How is Virgin Mobile for that?

I'm not sure what a "dropped call" is, but the only problem I've had with Virgin is they don't go some places. I have range in Portland, ME but I don't in Brunswick for instance (meant to check Freeport, but forgot to the last time I was there).

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

This is a warning. This photo is really fucking sobering.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Virgin uses the Sprint network for connectivity. So if you can use Sprint in a location, you can use Virgin Mobile. Since I was already Sprint and have had good connectivity for the kinds of places I go, it wasn't any worse than I'd been experiencing.

Eeek for New Orleans! Especially because the closer parts of MS where I expect most people evacuated to, isn't doing any better....

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

I talked to my mom earlier and she said every hotel in a 100 mile radius from Memphis (where she is) is completely booked. The casinos in Tunica, MS converted their convention rooms into shelters and put up cots. As of 10 pm last night, they still had some cots available (after than, my parents' power went out and they hadn't gotten any more news).

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Yow. Other than Andrew, I can't remember another one that was that tightly organized and also that big.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I'm going away from the news. The looting stories are making me ill.

I'm with ita. Think about the pretty. James Purefoy plays Marc Antony in Rome. I'll confess that's what made me tune in the first time.

I'm toying with the idea of getting a pay-as-you-go phone/plan from T-Mobile. Anyone have any experience they want to share, or an alternate recommendation that I could get up and running by Thursday morning?

Skipping ahead like crazy to say -- if you don't have a phone by Thursday, my cell is yours to monopolize this weekend.
