I've really got to learn to just do the damage and get out of town. It's the 'stay and gloat' that gets me every time.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Am I the only one reading it nut graft?

Isn't that, like, receiving pistachios under the table?

It seems we are both shallow, but in different ways. Also, I'm easier. [eta: to LeN]

Isn't that, like, receiving pistachios under the table?

I was thinking testicular re-attachment, but you could have a point.

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

1. Tom!! I'm so psyched for you! She's a lucky girl.

2. Totally want to go back to the San Diego Zoo and to the Wild Animal Park. Soon.

3. Kat, a lot of my East Coast city kids called me "Miss" to how their respect for me. I don't know where it comes from exactly, but I know it's a respectful form of address. I heard it most often from Hispanic students, but many of my white city kids used it too.

4. Today was my first day of kids too, but since it was the 9th grade only for orientation, I didn't actually teach. Tomorrow I have two classes, and I'm really excited.

5. I have no idea why I'm numbering my main ideas.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

5. I have no idea why I'm numbering my main ideas.

6. Which is the nut graf?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Isn't that, like, receiving pistachios under the table?

Yeah, I was thinking that would be a hilarious inside-jokey headline for a story about, say, a pecan farmer paying off the local congressman or whatever.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

When I lived down south it was considered pretty much mandatory. When I moved back up north my teacher's told me it made them feel old.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

When editing a manuscript (abbreviated "mss.") the Luddite way, which we do in my office (and I dearly love editing the way we do, pen to paper), making that little ¶ makes me unaccountably happy.

Raar!

But do you, in conversation, say something, start to correct it, realize you had it right the first time, and then say (out loud), "No, no. Stet that."

Do you?
