No, it's shiny! I like to meet new people. They've all got stories...

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Shit.

A resident inside a camelback bungalow in the Homedale neighborhood in Lakeview on Monday at 9 a.m. watched street floodwaters rise above the porch steps as he also battled water pouring down his stairwell from a second-floor window blown out by high winds from the west. The homeowner said floodwater had not yet come inside his home but was rising. He said he planned to move with his dog to the second floor and pray.

That would be right by my parents' house.

"When I look at people that I would like to feel have been a mentor or an inspiring kind of archetype of what I'd love to see my career eventually be mentioned as a footnote for in the same paragraph, it would be, like, Bowie." ~Trent Reznor

Went and read the Wiki article on Rice on a whim just now. The bit where she bites off the heads of her Amazon detractors is unintentionally hilarious.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

That would be right by my parents' house.

Try not to worry too much, Dana. You know storms are weird -- one house can be flattened and the one next to it fine. Hang in there.

move out and draw fire

Does the Wiki article explain why she has a male name? I can't even remember what it is (George Allen keeps coming to mind).

not really here. Really working.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

At first I thought it was someone pranking Wikipedia, but other sources confirm it. This link says that she was named after her father.

That Wiki article about Rice is impressive. Since articles with a POV are deleted, writing something that snide while giving the outward appearance of neutrality is quite an accomplishment.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Huh.. did Katrina wash all the Natterers away?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Huh.. did Katrina wash all the Natterers away?

Maybe us Natterers are quietly releived that Katrina wasn't as destructive as we though it'd be?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Huh.. did Katrina wash all the Natterers away?

I was busy reading the news. The two oak trees in Jackson Square next to the Cathedral went down. The lakeside is flooding. 9th ward is flooding. But mostly the levees are holding and I think they'll be okay. Damage but not a toxic soup bowl thirty feet deep. Probably comparable to Hurricane Betsy or Camille. Which is plenty bad, but NOLA's still going to be there when it's over.
