Giles, if you would like to get by in American society, then you are going to have to follow our traditions. You're the patriarch. You have to host the festivities, or it's all meaningless.

Now there's a career!

There was a woman in toronto who made a website where she was trying to get people to support her as an "art project." They profiled her on the CBC, but of course, I couldn't remember her name to Google when I turned off the TV.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

damn that recipe looks good!

It is -- I usually use the whole can of Guinness, and add carrots and potatoes.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Oh, crap. I don't believe it: [link]

On the positive side, the paper's (unscientific) online poll has people 82% against teaching Creationism in schools. Why the freakin' education minister finds this difficult is beyond me.

If I only had a brain...

Connie's truck was " hauling 35,000 pounds of caste booster explosives". What, one stick of TNT and you're a Brahmin in the next life?

Don't phrase it like that, the secret operatives will be coming after me next.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Addresses of hotels I'm considering:

Chelsea Inn, 46 W 17th St [link]

Hotel Thirty Thirty, 30 East 30th Street [link]

Mount Royal Hotel, 315 West 94th Street [link]

Any thoughts on location? I'm leaning towards the Thirty Thirty.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I don't know about "semi-private bath" but 17th & 5th isn't a bad location at all. It's convenient to trains, union square and all the chain stores you can stand on 5th & 6th.

Because books.

I wouldn't want to go as far uptown as 94th St., Nora. I think Hotel Thirty Thirty looks great. And like bon bon said, I'm a little leery of the "shared bath" thing.

What is even happening?

I wouldn't do the shared bath thing. I won't even go to beautiful B&Bs in the country, that make you share a bath--never mind in NYC.
