Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Of course, you can tell that's fake because no one in the Administration would say "war on terror" anymore.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Jesse, where's your tag (She's just not the most feminine bitch on the planet.) from?

Um, that Showdog Moms And Dads show that was on Bravo? I'm pretty sure.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Oh, so it's about a dog?

That's somehow disappointing.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

See, that's what makes it fun!

Is there a term for a male dog?

Bastard? Asshole?

Suckass, I think.

Yeah, that works.

Or ass-kisser, ball-licker, etc...

move out and draw fire

I've had strangers come up to me and tell me they were going to pray for me, but I was so immersed in the religious culture of that town it didn't shock me. I got cranky with the woman who would call every number in the phone book and ask the answerer to say a prayer with her. But I feel kind of bad now for getting cranky - I'm sure she was just lonely.

The only time I really freaked out was senior year in high school. I was working at a clothing store in the mall, and wearing my dorky little nametag that said "Howdy! I'm Raquel!" A woman came up to me and said "Do you know what your name means, honey?" I replied, "A ewe. A female sheep." (In case she thought I'd said "a you." She blinked and said, "No, it means 'Lamb of God.' Let me hug your neck!"

I took an involuntary step backwards and stammered out something about not being able to hug the customers.

Weird bias thing, though - I've had several Muslims tell me they would pray for me and it hasn't bugged me at all. However, in all cases I've been in a Muslim country at the time, and I understood that they were praying for my health and safety, not for the salvation of my soul. It's the assumption that my soul needs saving I find offensive.

no sane believer thinks s/he's got God in a box

But say I do have God in a box...is He alive or dead?

And on another, more gripping topic, I finally found a dress I love and want madly today. It's 50%, but it's in a store that sells only designer originals. While some of the other clothes have tags ($150 was the cheapest), this dress does not have a price marked. *Sigh* I'm sure 50% of "If you have to ask" is still "you can't afford it."

Also, for those who care, the CI recipe for country-style Greek salad (salata horiatiki) isn't identical to what I've had anywhere here, but it is very good.

Thrive to spite them

She blinked and said, "No, it means 'Lamb of God.' Let me hug your neck!"

That's odd.

A Lady from one of my first online communities made a religous site with a forum, I wouldn't call it a community. But she created it so you couldn't register using certain names. Someone had tried to register as Lilith, but wasn't able to. The forum owner explained that Lilith was an evil name, or anti Christian or something really negative like that. The person registering explained that Lilith was her real name and she wanted to use it.

I think the forum owner went with something like "it's still inappropraite for a site such as this." I never went back after that.
