I battle evil. But I don't really win. The bad keeps coming back and getting stronger. Like that kid in the story, the boy that stuck his finger in the duck.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Google news search on Jamaican. Sports and hurricanes don't even come up until the 4th link!

So far.

Maybe they just have better PR.

Or they don't think big enough.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Top 50?

the new Bluebook while the thread turns over...

Buying or selling a used car?

I think bon bon was perusing the latest edition of the legal citation handbook. It's an AP Style or MLA manual for lawyers, 'cause we have to be different.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Waterspout: [link]

Nope, that's from last August. But the picture I saw looked just like that. I think someone at DH's work took it.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Holy cow.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

I just read a news article from 1972 that has a picture of Fred Pete. Perhaps not our Fred Pete, but it was fun to see.

I think this is my first time before 100.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Egad, new thread, huh?

I just ate a grilled cheese sandwich, but I'm starving. I think I'm going to eat a banana as well.

OMG, I eat like a toddler.

"When I look at people that I would like to feel have been a mentor or an inspiring kind of archetype of what I'd love to see my career eventually be mentioned as a footnote for in the same paragraph, it would be, like, Bowie." ~Trent Reznor

Three of the last four things I ate were a banana, a muffin, and peanut butter on toast, so don't feel bad.

Up with the sun

Skipping ahead...

Speaking of TDS, Jon was en fuego last night with Bernard "Fathead" Goldberg.

I've seen a few people say that, but I thought it was a terrible interview. Jon was basically making the argument that we should be more concerned with, e.g., the weapons of mass destruction issue than with Bono saying fuck at the Grammys or Barbra Streisand's blog. Which is absolutely true, but ... there's *always* something bigger to worry about. If I complain about a broken nail, it doesn't mean I don't know that women in Saudi Arabia can't drive.

I think the more valid discussion was one Jon abandoned pretty quickly, about how critics have been saying society is getting worse for the last several thousand years, and yet somehow we always muddle through. I would have liked to hear how Goldberg would respond to that.
