Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Had a productive trip to the mall. Bought some socks, some underwear and a new belt(the old one wore out fairly quickly). Now being pestered by a cat.

What is even happening?

Cemetery can't find dad's grave

That's so upsetting--I can't even imagine. They put the wrong headstone on my father's grave. We knew precisely where it was, because it was on a corner, in the newest section of the cemetery, so it couldn't be anywhere else, but it was an awful feeling, and it seemed like forever until they corrected it. It was such a relief once they did, and even better, once Dad's own stone was finally up. The stone that was wrongly placed on Dad's grave, made at least one other wrong pitstop after being on Dad's, before it found it's (I assume) proper place.

That misplaced body thing happened in Baltimore. They did an autopsy on the wrong man.(/Homicide likes carrots)Mrs. Helpful sent me to a Mr. Pointy/"Say hello to my little friend!" place upon my reading that it was something of ita's. I came out equal parts "Loner" "and "Drama Nerd", I suspect it might have been different if I was in a brighter mood last night.

And, there's my case for cremation. Also, the one thing I tell my kids and my friends: once I'm dead, my vote is cancelled. So, even if I state a preference, it's moot. Do what they want with me, dead is dead.

Thrive to spite them

There was a huge case in Georgia where a crematory dumped somewhere between 100-200 bodies on the property rather than cremating them.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Spent the evening entertaining BF's cousin and cousin's best friend, and niece-of-cousin, who is seven.

We hosted Emmett's oldest godsister (GS), who will be a junior in high school this year. I've been wanting to take her around the city for a while because (a) she's really fun and cool, and; (b) as partial balancing for all the many times Emmett's godmother has looked after him. Emmett's godmother is an important figure in his life, and I wanted to extend myself a little to GS because it helps to have some people close to you outside your immediate family when you're a teen.

(Jilli and Ple - she sat at your table at the wedding.)

Also, as noted, she's just very cool (she's a very smart drama nerd who was on the boy's wrestling team. She also got in big trouble one year when she blew off all her homework to write a Harry Potter fanfic novel.) So I took her on the standard tour down Haight Street and then to the Mission with attendant Pirates and Mice and we lucked out and the hairless cat was in the SF bookstore. It was more affectionate than I've ever seen it, and we scritched it a lot.

It's appealingly cute that the cat doesn't realize how freaky she looks.

We ate breakfast at Zazie yesterday (GS had the gingerbread pancakes); and then dinner at Ti Couz. Came back home and introduced her to Wonderfalls, which she loved. Made her watch Harley Quinn episodes of Batman: TAS this morning which she also enjoyed then JZ drove her home on the way to church.

To be honest, I feel lucky to know her. I've known her since she was born, and she's always been a supercool kid. She told the most interesting stories when she was 5 years old. And she's got an excellent singing voice - which when she was little had no vibrato so she sounded like a tiny Billie Holiday (or David Sedaris - but that wasn't a reference point back then).

When EM got pregnant with Emmett, I just prayed he would be as cool as his two stepsisters. Which he is. So that was a worthwhile prayer.

Well, my dress is DONE. And I made a pale blue organza ribbon flower to pin where some tucks went funny so it looks like it was on purpose gathering instead of a Sara's Adventures with Sewing. Ain't perfect, but it will do. Got a pale blue wrap and my toenails are painted pale metallic blue.

I should clean, but not gonna. Should also cook, but not gonna. I'm going to be living on simple rations this week.

Sounds like the godsister is having a blast.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Jilli and Ple - she sat at your table at the wedding

Jilli's table. My table had Kim and other weirdos.

(Who all sat at my table? We were pretty rowdy.)
