Is the "clowns will eat me" thing a quote from something? odd.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

horrible or adorable?

Perfect for Bardot A Go Go.

I made JZ watch a movie I'd nabbed off TiVo - The Pleasure Seekers. Ann Margaret, 1964, set in Madrid. There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth (truly) as JZ reviewed the fashions of 1964. There was a lot of Inappropriate Pink. And also Peach. It's like the whole decade was conspiring to try to make Ann Margaret look bad.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Alice Cooper has a song with that title.

Can't sleep the clowns will eat me -- they always want to take a bite

This engenders a complex feeling on my part.

On the one hand: My dad was a clown.

On the other hand: I heard my ex-GF talk at length about her clown traumas.

I think that Alice Cooper song post-dates after the Bart reference.
