When you look back at this, in the three seconds it'll take you to turn to dust, I think you'll find the mistake was touching my stuff.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I renewed my license online not too long ago. That was great.

Unfortunately, to change my address I have to physically go to an office.

I actually picked up a pamphlet and studied for my licensing exams. The first one because, well, first shot at license. Then here because people seem to drive so crazy, I thought maybe the laws were actually different. It's just that no one follows them. But I am righteous in my informed indignation, now.

Kat, trips with the pets sound pretty much just as interesting as trips with little kids - each with their responses and special fun stuff to do while the car is moving and so forth. I've never thought about it this way.

ita, glad to read you enjoyed it! And, um, welcome back home, now that I know that you've both left and came back.

Can I have some cake, too, since I'm glad you were born?

Sure! be at our place around 7:00 as there will be cake and a special guest star.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Thanks, Nilly! It's good to be back. The trip broke my surfing rhythm. I need to get back to that. Not to mention the lack of punching people in the head...

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Now I have that song from The Music Man in my head ("Talk a Little"), only the lyrics are now:

Surf a little, punch a little,
Surf a little, punch a little,
Surf, surf, surf, punch a lot, surf a little more

Kat, seeing as I also love cake and am also glad you were born, the piece of cake I'm going to eat tonight (which is my roommate's birthday cake - the Hebrew date of her birthday was yesterday), will be in your honor. It will, however, be way before your 7:00 gathering at your place, since I don't love cake so much as to eat it on 5am. Will that be OK?

ita, for how many days did you not krav?

FIVE. It was horrible. Plus, really, before that I had a cold, so I didn't so much krav as stand around and point out when other people were doing it wrong. Between the lack of exercise and the sitting on a plane, my back was not happy yesterday. But I took a stretch class, so it feels better. And they're throwing a shitload of classes at me this week, so my average will remain intact.

I don't love cake so much as to eat it on 5am

Ack! Then you don't love cake. Give it to me.

Surf, surf, surf, punch a lot, surf a little more

Excuse me while I go change my tagline.

Classes to teach, you mean? I'm such a horrible skipper, I have no idea anymore at what stage you are.

Give it to me.

Come and get it.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I WOULD LIKE SOME CAKE, PLEASE. No one I know here is having birthdays, dammit.

Nilly is a taunter. Pass it on.

My krav time breaks down into three categories: classes I take just for me, classes I teach or assist in, and mandatory instructor classes. This week kicks off the instructor classes for brown belt -- and it'll be tough. For all the previous levels, I was learning to teach stuff I'd already tested on. This time, although it's all stuff I've learnt before, I've never demonstrated mastery even at the student level.

So it'll be humbling.

Cute shoes!
