Anyway, the point is, it's not like Bush wasn't going to pick a conservative.

right, but he's lying about it, and that's irritating.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

VW! Birthday!

This whole John Roberts thing, I have the key. All we need is somebody Geraldo-like to ask him, preferably in a street-ambush interview:

Mr. Roberts, are you aware that your name-twin is... a Canadian?? Do you categorically reject this man's erstwhile punkish tendencies? Have you ever met Alanis Morrissette?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Even better, the John Roberts I know was the head of the Mass. ACLU.

What is even happening?

As to picking a conservative -the Federalist society are lunatic conservatives. And with Bush that was pretty much a given too - but they are trying to pretend he is a conservative of the sane variety, which I doubt. He is probably personally sane; but thing is extremist is not a personality type it is a political position. Not foaming at the mouth, speaking in calm reasoned tones does not prevent someone from being an extremist if the positions they take are extreme.

Can someone tell me more about them, please? I'm looking at their website's past speakers and participants page, and in addition to the names I would expect to see there like Cheney and Scalia and most of W's top dogs, I'm also seeing Barney Frank, Mike Dukakis, John Podesta, Ralph Nader, and a few locals whose politics I'm pretty sure of.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I love getting the fifteen-minutes-in-advance weather report from Sumi. No rain here yet. Hopefully it'll make it this close to the lake.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'm watching the weather radar on Yahoo. Looks like there's a big-ass red blob heading for downtown Chicago. (red = heavy rain)

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Birthday Happies to vw!

Brenda, that happens a lot with my flist--I just click on "old messages" and "new messages" until it clears up. It has taken days to do that in the past, but it always has done, eventually. So far.
