How about the Saturn Vue? It will be out sooner, but less FE savings.... [link]
Heh on the parking. It's hellacious parking those in DC too.

Can you tell the high gas prices are really starting to chafe?
I've stopped driving to work at all (I used to about every other day). I've hardly driven at all in the last 7 months, which is good as I sold my one car that got better than 15 mpg.

The VUE is in the size bracket that I like. But yeah, only a 10% increase in fuel. Any idea what ballpark that puts it into?
Ballpark? You mean price range? Looks to be low twenties. Sorry, I think that's for the regular model. Found an article that says the hybrid is gonna come out late this year. I'm going to shut up now.

25 city 31 hwy in the FWD version.
Well it would be an improvement over what I'm getting now, that's certain.
Of all the cars we have driven for the BF to review (he writes for the "cars" site for About.com), we liked the Honda Element [link] the best. Great mileage, better than any of the several hybrids we had and really practical for hauling gear around. We also REALLY liked the Dodge Magnum Hemi, not so great mileage and pricy, but a terrific car.
Yeah, I know the Element gets good reviews and such, but I just can't stand the syling on them.
I kinda like the Scion xB, but it's a tiny motor in that car, and actually not really a lot of space either.
ND, lemme know if you decide to go that route. I'll get you the employee discount certificate.*
* If it applies--there are some vehicles that do not qualify.
We love the vue we have now, and it get resonable mileage for what it is. Not real thrilled with hybrid ( idea) because it doesn't look like it will get enough better mileage. When my saturn SL2 gets replaced ( many years from now, please) I want to get a hybrid - but it will only be Saturn if they get the mileage right.
