So far they have asked not used subpoenas. If they choose to Congress has pretty much unlimited powers of subpoena.

Typo and tommy, I share your rage. But nobody is ever going to change these people's minds. Half of them think it's their job to hasten the end of the world, and the other half don't care, as long as they've gotten rich, lived the high life and died before the global environmental consequences kick in.
I should have read more before responding about the global warming.
Now, I just have to say, what idiots! My opinion, should anyone care, is that no matter what the reason for the existence of global warming, the real question is what can we do about it. And should anyone have any doubts about global warming, they should just visit Alaska.
On the bright side, I'm in the perfect location for everyone's vacation to the cool. Actually, in a few years we may rival the Riviera. No wonder no one can afford a house here.
Oh I don't want to change their minds. I want to kick their asses (politically - since they are politician not scientists - especially the ones such as Singer who pretend to be scientists.)
Oh I don't want to change their minds. I want to kick their asses
I don't so much want to change their minds or kick their asses as much as I want then to Stop. Fucking. Shit. Up. Which will probably require kicking their asses - at least electorally.
The black licorice ice cream freaked me out. It's 1:00 AM and 71 degrees with 76 % humidity. This sucks.
Anyone awake?
Anyone awake?
Yes!
My opinion, should anyone care, is that no matter what the reason for the existence of global warming, the real question is what can we do about it.
Welll, herein lies the problem. Doing something about global warming cuts into the profit margin of big companies. Which is why our Republican overlords are opposed to it.
The rank-and-file Republican voter has also been trained to think "global warming" has as much basis in reality as "pyramid power" and responds like it's craxy-talk. Doesn't affect them personally, right?
(Contemplates ranting about how American decisions and actions affect whole world but don't really come home to roost on Americans, using the bombs in Egypt yesterday as an example, but decides she's preaching to the choir.)
ETA: One of the oppositions to Roberts as a Justice is his pro-business and thus potential anti-environment stance. His career has been in business law, most frequently on the side of big business. [link] . While I concur that you can't assume an attorney's personal beliefs from his professional cases, I think that a prediliction for defending big business does indicate a personal stance, either pro-big business or just base greed.
That scientist investigation is scary. Is it just for intimidation purposes, do you think?
ION much shallower and happier news, this weekend, my friend (in UK) met Hugh Jackman for the second time. He remembered her from their first meeting. Our other friend was with her, although did not get the opportunity to shake his hand, largely because she was marvelling over the lickability of his arms. She is pondering asking first friend's permission to lick the hand Mr. Jackman shook. I pointed out that it is better to ask for forgiveness than permission. That's the right move in a case like this, yes?
