My fam is Anne's, only not so much with the sculptural fabulousness. Sex and violence weren't ever banned, but there was a constant refrain of "you can't watch that - it's CRAP".
That was our biggest rule. Except I remember once my nana jumping up off the couch and slapping the tv off because people were kissing on Dallas.
Oh, we watched Dallas, too. Were both Dallas and Love Boat on Friday nights?
People
kissed
on Dallas? Ewwwww!
I shudder to think how brenda's nana reacted to NYPD Blue....
My Nana adored
Thelma and Louise.
/my Nana liked carrots
IIRC, Dallas was Friday night, and Love Boat/Fantasy Island were Saturday night. I'm positive about the LB night because I had a regular babysitting gig on Saturday nights for nearly a year, and that was the only thing on TV that I found remotely appealing. (Of course, I was 12-13 years old at the time.)
Pre-cable, pre-VCR, you settle for whatever weak entertainment you can find.

I remember those days. [shudder]
It's a miracle we survived....

No, it was Dukes of Hazzard, Dallas and then Falcon Crest on Fridays.
With Love Boat and Fantasy Island on Saturdays.

OK, there was DEFINITELY no Dukes of Hazzard in my house, and I'm sure I had to go to bed at 10, so I don't know if the parentals watched Falcon Crest. But I doubt it.
