Unfortunately, though, for decades most Americans thought that it represented Chinese food, and in non-Asian-settled towns such as my own, it did. My first taste of sweet-and-sour shrimp was heaven, in comparison.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
We had one chinese restaurant in town, that I know of. It wasn't takeout. I know I ate there, but I remember nothing about it. We had 2 called italian, and one was a fancyschmancy place (never ate there.) Other place was good italian-american fare.
But I had a kajillion different mexican places. It was awesome.
I like Olive Garden. I'm a philistine.
I'm a philistine, too. I can get my favorite cheap red wine and very good fetuccine Alfredo. And their chairs are on casters, which makes it easy to get up to the table. This contents me.
I refuse to eat at Olive Garden thanks to long-ago posts on the alt.gothic newsgroup; too many fellow Freaks In Black dealt with rude service from the employees.
Nobody orders chop suey, Kathy.
Thank G-d for the International Cuisine movement of the past fifty years! I can't imagine only eating the kind of food my parents grew up on.

Just goes to show they couldn't open an Olive Garden in Sicily. (aside from the food reasons)
Few Protests Over Theater Ads, Say Movie Chains
Meanwhile, their audience is slowly dribbling away...
As far as I'm concerned, they're another five-minute cushion that make it more likely I make it in time for the previews or the start of the movie. When I am on time they bug, because it's all about me.
I've never been to Olive Garden. Or Friday's. Is Buca di Beppo anything like OG? It's not bad, but it's definitely a pick up takeout when I don't feel like having anything in particular kind of place.
I thought Chop Suey was a myth. Not seriously, but I've never been to a place that actually offered it. I'm not even that clear on what it is, besides bad.
Once the lights go down, ads are okay. Before the lights go down, anything on screen should be quiet enough to easily talk over. or there should be reserved seats so I don't have to sit in a theater for half an hour trying to carry on a conversation over the ads to ensure a good seat.
And I want butter halfway down my bag of popcorn, not just on top.
Is Buca di Beppo anything like OG?
I *loathe* Buca di Beppo because of the atmosphere. I cannot stand enforced fun. Give me a break.
Buca di Beppo has kickass garlic bread. The entrees aren't too bad there, either.
