[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

What is even happening?

Nilly just posted her happies in Natter, so I think you're right, Deena.

I have studiously avoided all coverage of the hurricane, other than Buffista discussion. It's too awful and I tend to dwell on things like this. That said, someone just mentioned in Natter that it had been downgraded to a cat 4. They mentioned 155 mph winds though, so I don't know if this is enough difference to make a difference.

Wheee!!! That means I *am* able to wish meara and Jen happy birthdays on the correct day!

Happy Birthday, O Gorgeous Ones!

Welcome back, Cindy. I'm pretty much avoiding hurricane coverage also, excepting here.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Happy Birthday Jen and meara! What a felicitous day!

Back at work. Doesn't seem to be too many "emergencies."

I overheard the craziest Bridezilla on the train this morning- apparantly her fiance is in the hospital for mysterious bleeding, and she (Train!Bridezilla) was bitching that his mother decided to stay with her sick son instead of going to Bridezilla's bridal shower. The people she was complaining to looked at her as if she had just spouted a second, more rodent-like head. The topper? B-zilla was bitching that future MIL should have come to the shower because "there was nothing she could do" at the hospital. The MIL? is a doctor.

IME, one really needs a medically savvy advocate by one's side when at the hospital- especially with a mysterious, trying-to-diagnose situation.

I'm not even getting into the weirdness of carrying on with a shower when one's finace is mysteriously sick in the hospital. Because, that's a whole different thing that my evesdropping doesn't have the complete information on.

Sounds like she mis-timed the poison.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Happy birthday, meara and Jen!

My first day of work starts in an hour aaaaaaaah.

I'm getting the pig!

Happiest day of birth to meara and Jen!!

Vibing for all in the path of Katrina. I'd say more but my head is so deep in the sand that I've forgotten what outfit I'm wearing.

What is even happening?

P-C have a great first day at work.

Wow. That's something about that bridal shower, Nora.

Sounds like she mis-timed the poison.

Heh.

Welcome back, Cindy. I'm pretty much avoiding hurricane coverage also, excepting here.

Thanks. It's better here, Raq. We get the hype filtered out.

I'd say more but my head is so deep in the sand that I've forgotten what outfit I'm wearing.

I wasn't going to bring it up, but you forgot to put one on at all, Nicole.

Mostly lurking...

Happy Birthdays, Jen and meara! I hope you both have fabulous days, as you deserve.

I slept 13 hours last night. I think the retreat wore me out more than I thought. I also twisted my ankle again last night, so going to bed was my best option for avoiding the pain.

New Not!Emily is all settled and had dinner with us last night before he settled in to do some homework. It's going to be weird having another roommate who is actually here. But, he's nice and thoughtful. I cooked dinner for all of us, and he went and got a bottle of wine. Then he did dishes! Dishes! It was like an amazing and wonderful thing!

On edit: He did mandate a 15 minute limit on Weather Channel watchage, which is probably good, 'cause otherwise I'll get totally obsessed with it and unable to do anything else. Many thoughts going out, though, to those in the area. I am hoping and praying for everyone and the city itself. I've never been there, but it's one of the places I want to visit. So, there is a selfish bit there, but mostly, I'm worried for the people and their homes and businesses.
