I've been threadsucking for recipes. I've found tantalizing mentions of some but no specifics:
Hil talking about her grandmother's recipes
I'll see what I can do with those. I've got one or two that I think I can write down. Most of the rest are either still in German and untested with modern ingrediants or just way too vague for anyone who hasn't seen it made to be able to reproduce it.
I felt Oh So Tired last night and went to sleep and could not get comfortable. Woke up this morning all dizzy and yucky and took my temp and, sure enough, a fever of 101. Not so bad, except we are supposed to drive up the coast to see the BF's family today. We rented a car and everything and haven't seen his parents in months and I just don't feel up to it. Bleagh, I hate being the wet blanket.
The recipes were tough. I ended up sending a few that I had in handwritten form that were given to me by family and friends. I don't cook by recipe as such.
I love my vast collection of cookbooks and I enjoy reading through so many recipe databases on line. I almost never follow a recipe as written though. I take what sounds good from several and do my own thing.
My friends and family insist that I am a wonderful cook, and I enjoy feeding people I love. The best kitchen creations have resulted from whatever I had on hand at the moment, not a list of ingredients.

I'm sorry you are feeling ucky. You really don't want to share your bug with loved ones. You may feel like wet blanket, but it's a better plan to stay home.
Oh that sucks, Robin. I hope you feel better soon.
Mornings should be outlawed.
{{Robin}} I'm sorry you're sick and sorry for the disappointment.
Laura, I was trying to figure out how to put down my lasagna "recipe" last night, but couldn't figure out how to make it useful.... If you've got some of this, it's pretty good, but you might want to add this... same with my basic chowder recipe that becomes any number of soups depending on what's on hand. I'm finding it a bit frustrating.
Hil, thanks for trying. I think it's really cool that you have her recipes, no matter how actually useful it turns out to be.
Went to bed at 10ish, fell asleep at midnightish, woke at 2ish because Nick, who was supposed to be spending the night elsewhere, crawled in a window with some friends, went to bed, and left them sitting on the couch watching a movie, woke again at 3ish for no reason I could discover, couldn't go back to sleep. Am very tired now.
If you've got some of this, it's pretty good, but you might want to add this...
Exactly. Some of the best meals have resulted from the random fridge contents.
I haven't been able to be much of a cook, lately. I tend to more or less follow recipes, but that's because I like to make desserts and baking isn't quite so forgiving. I just submitted 3 desserts and a side dish, and now I'm very hungry.
Sorry you aren't feeling well, Robin. Hopefully it won't be too bad.
Thought I had more to say but the brain isn't cooperating.

I may have to pull back my recipes I sent in. Not only did I burn pasta I was boiling yesterday, my chicken piccata tasted all weird, and it's normally foolproof.
I blame the moon phase.
My BF is the best. He woke up, I said "I am sick and I don't think we can go" and he instantly bundled me into bed, fetched me Dayquil and called his folks to say we won't be coming. He's awfully sweet.
