If you liked prints I'd say this is a lovely top [link] . I think it's also around there somewhere in white.
Spike's Bitches 25 to Life
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Plei, do you sew?
I fake it with hand stitching, and am allowed to cut things out or fix hems, but am generally not allowed near the actual machines. I'm the only person I can think of who managed a D in Home Ec when I was staying in over my lunch period to try to actually finish my sewing projects.
It's something of a marvel, really. There's been one machine in my whole life I could actually use, but my mother gave it to my sister, a fact about which I am still bitter. (Perfect condition Singer Featherweight. Those are 'xpensive!) That 14 year age difference means that most of the things I've wanted since childhood (including the dresser I grew up using) have been promised to her since before I was born. And my mother wonders why I only want the one child...
JZ, check your work e-mail. Nevermind.
So what do I do about my hair and makeup? I have never been to a Goth club before. Actually I have very rarely been to any kind of club.
Dark eyes, dark lips. Do not attempt liquid eyeliner (or deliberate liquid eyeliner swirly designs) unless you've done such things before.
Some sort of pale shimmery eyeshadow, black eyeliner, and black mascara + dark red lipstick should work just fine.
All y'all who haven't had the distinct pleasure of hanging with sj in person -- you have NO IDEA how utterly gorgeous she'll look with the pale makeup and dark red lipstick. I still haven't seen a picture of her that comes close to doing her justice. And gothed up -- man! t swoons
Thanks for the link and the advice, Hec. I'll see what I can do.
And I know I'm being neurotic about this, for complicated and petty reasons involving some of the other wedding guests and my own personal demons.
This is completely understandable, Plei. I still think you are going to be the foamiest woman at the wedding, regardless of what you are wearing. I have seen lots of pictures of you, and you never fail to look fabulous.
I think a goth sj will be stunning.
Sadly, Heather, Japanese Weekend runs really small. They have some pretty stuff, too.
Jilli, if I can find what I'm looking for, I may take you up on the closet raid for a crinoline.

Yeah, me too. sj, as Ple notes you can also go for loose and romantical hair. You could braid your hair while wet and then take it out when it's dry for the wavy.

Awww. That is so sweet, even if you are overexaggerating. I do think my general looks tend toward gothy without my needing to try much, so I have always wanted to try to get really gothed up, but I want to look good and not like a goth-wannabe if that makes any sense. Teppy, you should have seen me when my hair was naturally black. Although, I love my red hair more than I can say.
I always forget to tell people that, because it never occurs to me that someone might not know to do that.
Heh - the only reason I know is because I was just looking at Voltaire's little Goth guide book yesterday.
Heather, I am impressed. You have actually found a bunch of cute nursing wear. But Plei is right, Japanese Weekend runs waay small, to the point that I found most of their maternity clothes wouldn't fit me past month 6 or 7, and I'm not that big, fer chrissakes! I haven't looked at their nursing stuff, but maybe some of that would fit.
