Angel: How're you feeling? Faith: Like I did mushrooms and got eaten by a bear.

Spike's Bitches 25 to Life

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I'm bleeding a little now.

It's the chirping. She makes these cute chirpy noises that seem to be promising that this time she really just wants her tummy scratched, she really won't grab your arm and nip at it.

Liar.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I hate it when pets lie.

"I'm sweet, I'm furry, YOU'RE powerless against my cuteness, bald monkey. You'll believe anything I say."

And the little fuckers are right.

I *am* still petting her...

ION, my dvr just helpfully popped a message onscreen to tell me it wanted to go on the internets in 3:00, then 2:59 and then 2:57... I pressed the button for it to just go already and update. Then got confuzzled about why it balked. Turns out that I am already using the internets and there really is only the one RJ-45 in this room. So taunty of me to tell it to go update and then bogart the cable. But I am feeling the need to be sleepy so I will give it the internets now.

Why do cats want to walk on the keyboard?

Actually, since I am asking, why do cats do any of the things they do?

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I don't have a clue why cats do anything.

ImeN, I am exhausted, but I can't sleep because lying down makes everything hurt too much. This hasn't happened in a while, so I suppose I should be grateful...

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Annabel not sleep. Annabel awake at 3:00 a.m. wanting to play.

Very tired mama takes Annabel and put her in playpen in other room. Leaves her until she starts screaming. Mama now in other room with Annabel waiting for her to fall asleep.

-----

I've missed church something like three Sundays in a row due to similar cases of Annabel-induced sleep deprivation. For some reason her current bout of bad sleep has been worst on Saturday nights. I really wanted to go to church today. And somehow the exhaustion of not having had an uninterrupted 6-7 hours of sleep in 2 weeks or so is just making everything that's bad that much worse.

move out and draw fire

Have you tried whiskey, Susan? For Annabel, if not for you.

Kidding, mostly. Sorry her sleep habits are getting weird, and sorry there's so much un-good going on in your life right now. Things will get better.

How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

The pediatrician told me to put soft toys in Aidan's bed and wait him out, that he could learn to comfort himself and go back to sleep on his own. It helped. Every pediatrician is different, but you might want to mention this next visit, if it hasn't stopped by then. {{Susan}} I hope you get some more rest soon.

{{sj}} sorry for the aches. I hope you got some sleep.

Our wings are not tired.

Every pediatrician is different

And every parent is different. Friends and relatives told me I was killing myself and damaging my kids by letting them sleep with us, holding them every time they fussed, etc. Spoiled rotten they would be. My feeling was that the kid screaming at 3AM is miserable and I am miserable. I lie down with the kid and he sleeps, and I sleep.

The boys were rarely outside of physical contact until they were 2 or so. They're not spoiled. They're independant, healthy, and happily sleep alone.

My doctor said she was as weak as I was and practiced with her kids in a carrier on her chest. So no guilt there. The grandma's around me swore I wouldn't get them to go to daycare.

There is no right or wrong way to go with non-sleeping babies, short of a shot of overproof rum in the bottle that is. It is what works for the parents and the baby. It's a good plan to have the baby in a safe place and cram ear plugs in your ears; it's a good plan to put the baby between the parents in bed and sing and rub her back until she sleeps. Fie to those who say there is one right way.

The important thing is finding something that works for you.
