Spike's Bitches 25 to Life

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

The morning news said that if you soak a cotton ball in the allergy kind of visine and use that on a pimple, it will shrink it right up. And it was on the teevee, so it must be true.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Psst, Aimee, I got that too! Yahoo!

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Oh Jeebus.

Well, you'll have some great booze for your b-day right? I'm excited I can drink this year!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Okay, that was fun.

I only had to talk to: Firmwide Payroll Manager, Firmwide Accounts Payable Manager, Office Accounts Payable Manager, Firmwide HRIS Database Manager, Office Director of Administration, West Coast HR Manager, the Hiring Partner, my boss, and five off-site Summer Associates.

The Summers were told not to touch the money that's going to hit their direct deposit on Thursday, as it will be backed out and they will be paid instead by check.

One was told she was going to have to pay some money back. That took some explaining.

All the expense processing for the five associates had to happen today so that it could be processed in time to receive checks on Thursday.

Plus all of their personnel actions had to be processed today.

I just had lunch. Nothing I planned to do today happened.

Thrive to spite them

David, that sounds like a hideous day. I hope your evening is better.

Thrive to spite them

I got my hair cut (I need to go back and ask for the back to be buzzed, it feels too long even though I know it's not) it looks great.

However, my hair stlyist got a job in the city where he wants to move. I'm excited for him, it's a great oppurtunity, the salon sounds fantastic. He's going to be coming back here for 6mths - 1 year to phse out clients. He hopes it will be only 6 mths.

I'm sad. I like him, but he promised that he's going to be training someone to do his clients hair. So I won't be changing salons.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I hate your job so much.

The good part is (oddly) everybody already knows, so I don't have to be anxious about telling anybody, and that everything I'm responsible for has been done. Nobody's going to yell at me. It'll just show up in my annual review.

Feh. It's just...my boss forwarded an email to me in mid-July with the termination processing for the pro-bono working Summers. I didn't interpret that to mean, "By the way, even though you don't know all the changing-at-the-last-minute dates for their in-office employment and their pro-bono working dates, and you weren't on any of the recruiting conference calls, and I've never talked to you about it, and I have a brand new recruiting coordinator who is getting paid $12,000 more than you to do the same job you did last year and the protocol is completely different from last year and I never sent you instructions to process these people, nor prompted you to do the several things that need to happen - it is still my expectation that you will know when, where and how all of these people need to be handled so the get paid in the proper way."

It's not crazy to expect the Manager to start the work process that affects somebody's pay is it? I mean, even just an email: "David, J.'s last day is the 15th. Start a term PAN for that day, then submit a legal expense to pay her for her pro-bono work as detailed in the previously forwarded email. Call C. if you have any questions."
