DH played low brass back in the day.
I think that's all I'm gonna say about that.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

That's good to know about the UT library, libkitty! The essay I was reading alluded to the books not being totally gone, but (okay, yeah, I was skimming) it didn't seem to fit his thesis. However, the author tried to make a point about how ordering books and having them brought to you would make kids feel all entitled and not learn how to research and get offa his lawn...I didn't put too much stock in that argument as some of the premiere reference libraries in the world bring the books to you by your request.
I think some drivers are so inattentive they nose up on the bumper in front of them without even noticing. It seems to be a pattern with them--and then they sort of wake up and go, "Oh! Too close, better back off," until they do it again
We call it "bumper lock."
I just collected the baby from his nap. He'd rotated 180 ° in the crib, with his feet where his head had been. I've no idea how.
What the hell? Do they realize that the word library comes from the word for "book"?
More importantly, don't they realize that bookfree places are evil? I mean, talk about your soullessness.
Book-free Libraries are wrong.
The best Libraries have lots and lots of books. The best have basement stacks that are dimly lit.
Book-free libraries?

I echo this sentiment. "Book-free library" is an oxymoron.

True. But I know that back when I did research, I would often go looking for one title and end up with something more useful/relevant/interesting from nearby that I didn't know to look for.

Yeah, absolutely. That's something I wouldn't want to lose. Though it sounds like in this case it's not quite happening like that.

I submit the Chicago Libraries, Joy of Stacks.

Absolutely! It's like looking in a dictionary vs. using an online dictionary. In a paper one, you can browse and you see cool words.
Jeb tried to get rid of the state library. He was going to sell it to a private university that the Bushes have ties to.
There was enough outrage that was stopped. But right after the deal was ended a new rule came down that there would be no browsing in the stacks. I'm not sure if that's still the case
