Spike's Bitches 25 to Life

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

LAURA!

Is that hottie reporter, or another? We need deets!

This is the 24-year-old law student. He was potential two. He's young, polite, great with Toto, kind, honest (from what I can tell), quirky, smart, neat freak but reasonable, loves movies (owns like 120 DVDs) and is a Red Sox Fan (his dad has season tickets).

Since potential two is going to look at a few more places, I think I'm going to email hottie reporter (potential three) and see where he stands. I'm gonna run this past Emily first, though. It sounded last night like she would really prefer a guy, so even though I liked one of the girls I met yesterday, I think we're going to try for the guys first.

ETA: We've decided that potentials one and five are completely out. Plus, I've decided to cancel my appointment for this afternoon, since the girl was driving me nuts through email. Hopefully one of the three I liked will work out.

move out and draw fire

What is the message of this new medium? What does it mean when the University of Texas at Austin removes nearly all of the books from its undergraduate library to make room for coffee bars, computer terminals, and lounge chairs?

So, what do the Bitches think of book-free libraries? I've been reading this essay, and it states

Many entering students come from nearly book-free homes. Many have not read a single book all the way through; they are instead trained to surf and skim.

I agree that academic reading trains you to skim, but do many students entering university really come from book-free homes? I know the kids my sister teaches in elem. school do, but they are from underprivileged families in an underprivileged area, and most will not go to college. (And putting books online doesn't help them, as they don't have computers at home either).

Yeah, I think so too, brenda. I was a little worried yesterday that I just liked him so much, 'cause he was SUCH a contrast from potential one. But, I think he really is possibly a good match. He's younger than we were looking for, but seems mature. He's also a bit neater than our cleanliness quotient, but I explained how we are typically, and he didn't seem to think that would be a problem. So, I like him.

Emily is mostly trusting my judgement, which scares me a little...don't want to make the wrong decision. I've just got a good feeling about this guy. And he really was wonderful with Toto. This was the one that Toto just laid next to with his head on his leg. The guy just sat and pet him the whole time we were chatting.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Nick, happily playing his guitar suddenly looks up at me and says, "I bet being a jazz musician would make you a better lover."

It really doesn't help that I think he's right. It really doesn't. Oh god, I am never having kids.

Heh. On the one hand, I had a dream about Nick last night (not that knd of dream, you pervs). Deena and I had made him up into (a bigger version of) the wee prince from A Midsummer Night's Dream, complete with fairy bed.

On the other, from my experience? Jazz musicians ain't all that in bed, but the pillow talk is fun. Blues musicians, OTOH....

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

Gronk.

Back home now. Jet lag is good in that I'm up all early and stuff when I have to pack.

Also just called in to work. As half-expected, my boss handed in her resignation. Now, I move AND look for a job!! Huzzah!

So. How's Bitch World?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Jazz musicians ain't all that in bed

What instrument? That might make a difference.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Also, it's lovely to see you, Deena!

Cass, sweetie, the vacuum had it coming. There was no other way. I'm glad you found loving support here.

Oooh, libkitty, I love your new hair.

So, what do the Bitches think of book-free libraries?

I don't like it. Part of the joy of libraries for me is getting intrigued by something right next to what I was looking for, and finding something new.

vw, it sounds like either of the potentials would be good.

LILTY! Yay!

What instrument? That might make a difference.

Trumpet, trombone, bass. I could ask my mom about jazz pianists, but I'd prefer not to cross that particular line.

LILTY!

Sorry to hear about the job situation. What a mess to come home to.

Did you see Toto's birthday party pictures? They're totally adorable. That's about what's up in my world.
