I'm making a concerted effort to knuckle down and write my book (which has been outlined for about 9 months) this August. I'm very excited to get it done. And I know I would suck at the jacket copy. Good to know other people do that part!

It's a skill, definitely. The fun part is playing with different voices and styles to get the right tone. Romance copy was usually easy, especially historicals, but nonfiction is more of a challenge.

What kind of book? And don't worry about the jacket copy -- you wouldn't believe how many authors couldn't write their own copy to save their lives. It's hard to boil it down when you're so invested in the book as a whole.

Time was, at the publisher where I used to work (full-time), editors had to write cover copy for all their books, and then the copy department just tinkered and polished. Now it's almost all freelanced, which is good for people like me!

Amy, It's non-fiction. Based on my treatment process, which I call Innerstory™. The process is based in 'understanding, embracing and rewriting your Innerstory™. And it's organized around what, so far, I've called Bj-isms...these short, snappy (often funny) phrases that help people replace habits of thought and speech that keep them stuck in old patterns. Sample: Our families teach us the songs and, when we grow up, we hire a different band to play them.

I absolutely love presenting the material in workshops and with individual clients. And I've got a TON of it...so I'll definitely need a good editor.

I hope to write the book, and teach from it to reach a broader audience.

There is not much I love more than hearing an old client, or a former student say, "X was happening, but I reminded myself [fill in the Bj-ism] and I was okay." I get choked up every time!
