[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

What's an "unexamined" faith?

Just curious....

I can't even.

Although in my ex-escort friend's experience, the uncut guys who already cared about cleanliness were still less delicious to her than not only the cleanly cut, but the merely averagely hygeinic cut.

Small sample size v. total male population? Matter of personal taste? One admits that one isn't likely to hear complaints about that sort of thing, even if one never has.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

What's an "unexamined" faith?

One example, I would think, is people who, as adults, have the attitude of "Yeah, I'm [insert religion here], because that's how I was raised, damn it!"

(Which is NOT to say that the religion one is raised in is either bad or good; I mean people who call themselves "Catholic," for instance, b/c they were raised Catholic, versus sitting down and looking at the tenets of that particular faith and deciding if that's something they believe/agree with/can support.)

Maybe I've been spending too much time here... I just read a SciFi Channel ad for their premier of The Forsaken, and I read it as The Foreskin.

Oh, that's what I thought; I was just wondering if there was some more specific meaning to it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

you only get to experience one way or the other

Didn't someone cite a kid who was circumcised as a pre-teen and thought wanking was more fun before?

Thrive to spite them

I don't really have anything to add to the circumsion thing.

Hurricane Dennis did some damage to the coastal towns near here, mostly from storm surgers. One town has been mostly underwater, there was severe flooding elsewhere.

Our place at the beach is fine, except some windows might have been left open. I had a relative stay down at his place during the storm and he reported on the damage. Lots of decks and the one dock were washed away from the high water. I'm not sure how far up the water got from the beach but it probably got close to the record high water mark.

move out and draw fire

Basically, yeah. It's simply accepting the dogma and tenets of whatever religion you are, without question.

I'm not criticizing having an unexamined faith, just to be clear. It's obviously the right answer for a great many people. It's when I'm told that by examining my own faith and trying to define my moral values myself, rather than letting someone else dictate them, I'm a sinner or whatever...yeah, that's when I get cranky. (See also the Creationism vs. Evolution stuff).

Of course, I'm also not a big fan of those who believe that we are primarily mental beings and, that our mental powers are our sole value.

Guys who use escort services not necessarily representative of the male population as a whole?
