I got stupid. The money was too good.

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls and The Inside), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Yes. Buffistas always steer me right.

I think the only Warren Ellis work I've read is his three-issue mini-series Mek. The first two issues of that were really great. Then came the final issue, which felt like the Matrix sequels, celebrating a violent and exciting Carrie-esque climax and avoiding the thematic material built up in the first two issues.

If I only had a brain...

Or, if your doctor says your blood pressure is dangerously low, read a Dave Sim afterword.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Even if I do think that Spider sometimes looks like Pete's evil twin.

I was thinking the good twin, personally.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

So there's a good twin and an adorable twin? Is that how that works?

I can hear him make the squinchy face from all the way across the lake.

mops water off of keyboard

I'm so going to call him that. And then hope that my powers of cute will save me from retaliation.

Hm. I thought it was more a locking-lawyers-in-a-wine-cellar thing. Well, sorta. Not a revenge fantasy; a reveal that the heroine wasn't one.

So terribly in trouble. Even with her pinkie-killing skillz.

So going to wish she lives in another state.

So categorically should know better.

Warren Ellis did a few other things too. There was a so-so vampire story called Sugar Virus which was part of the Bad Blood series that my one lone comic - Sweetmeats - appeared in. I had the opportunity to chat for a while with Warren at a Glasgow comic convention back in 1992 - oh bloody hell, almost 14 years ago - and he had a solid streak of snark then but he's really honed it to perfection these days.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

So there's a good twin and an adorable twin?

Lord help me, I'm now imagining a bald tattooed guy with a big pink Hello Kitty bow on his head. And all I have to save me from retaliation is my powers of 3,000 miles the fuck away.

eta: from both, which is even better, now that I think of it.
