[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls and The Inside), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

"Ten percent of nuthin' is...let me do the math here...nuthin' into nuthin'...carry the nuthin'..."

I'm sure I read that Marti Noxon had written a script for a Big Film with a Big Director, but I could be making it up. Must go and check SFX again.

Yeah the big director is Sam Raimi. There's a Whedonesque thread about it here. The Sci Fi Wire article it links to doesn't appear to be there anymore.

A little late, but.... Kristen is correct, Jane's recent career path has been Gilmore Girls (1 year); Tru Calling (cancelled before her ep aired); The Inside; and now Jake in Progress (she's writing ep 8). She also has an essay in the new Pride and Prejudice anthology (forget the title at the moment, it was edited by Jennifer Crusie).

And edited the book of essays on Firefly.

So I'm reading Wonerfalls Fic from yuletide. And it's weird because... well... because... I dunno why. It's just weird.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Dear Tim,

In lieu of a pony, you may instead purchase a spa day for me. Of course, I could also use a box of Kleenex to soak up the tears I weep from the stress. Jewelry is also nice. I like silver. I'm a Winter.

With love,

Your golddigging friend 4evah,

Allyson

My entire face has erupted in painful acne. I'm going to have to go to sleep with a cloth soaked in green tea with camomile covering my whole head just to calm it down.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Awww, Allyson, your poor pretty face!

In case you feel like trying out something new today, here's Jilli's acne-battling recipe, which I plan to make for my own erupting face later today.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

What's the spiritual heir (or predecessor) of Profit? I got a guy hooked, and I think he's blaming me for the lack of existence of further episodes. He can totally kick my ass, so I'd like to at least be able to offer him methadone.

He's been into the Buffyverse, so I'm thinking I can calm him down with Angel S2. But that mightn't be enough.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

What's the spiritual heir (or predecessor) of Profit?

I went to Angel too. Damn that Greenie.

The TV show Action was plenty cynical-player oriented. I think that's coming out on DVD in 2006. The old TV series Buffalo Bill was a comedy, but also dark in that way. It's just out on DVD.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

It's a show with a pretty stalwart and true protagonist, but the villains of Pretender remind me of Profit in some ways.

Hmm, "This amoral twisty headfuck brought to you by the letter P!"

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Having never seen Profit, every time it comes up here, my mind goes to Vengeance Unlimited (unfortunate title). I liked that show at the time, wouldn't mind seeing the full run.
