[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls and The Inside), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Aww, Nilly. I'd love to do a DVD commentary! I do that that the studio would not be so enthused. But I'll talk along with my DVDs at home so it'll be all interactive and stuff.

Should be noted that Buffy would have been canceled after four episodes if it aired on FOX, today. And then there'd be no Buffistas at all.

So sad.

Why do you go other places? It's scary out there. I pretty much just stay here. We have theoretical pie and everything.

Mmmm. Pie...

See, that's exactly what I want - only, you know, with a mic or something, so that I can pretend I'm in the room with you. I can even visualize the room, I can pretend where I sit and how Ruby would glare at me and everything.

Also, I'm sorry you have to face such reactions. I totally don't understand that sort of response, as well. I mean, I can even understand from where the people with the failed-before-it-started approach are coming from (though, well, not agree with that sort of approach), but not the "you were an idiot anyway" sort of response. What sort of good does it do?

I'm trying to think, 13 episodes, that's a whole story. Not a long novel with lots and lots of chapters which is hard to carry in your backpack around because it makes it heavy, but still. A few movies' worth, in length, and it seems like it's going to get some of the on-going developments of plot and character which makes tv, in a way, even better than a 2-hours movie. So, it's something. A thing that didn't exist last year, and is here now. And I still can't wait to get to watch it, as short and full of unfulfilled potential as it may be.

You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

I'm sorry Tim. I spent the weekend pimping the show. Now I feel bad for everyone involved.

Once upon a time, this was an other place.

Pish-tosh. I refuse to believe that the Buffista Boards have not always existed, pristine and archtypal in perfection as a platonic message board in the mind of god. So there.

In other, less delusional news, I find myself agreeing with Nilly. (Big news there). At least we got what we got, and 13 eps of brilliance is better than no eps of brilliance, or hundreds of eps of mediocracy.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Once upon a time, this was an other place.

Yeah, it was, but you have to admit we know how to take care of you. How about a nice cup of tea and some cookies?

Or would you prefer boilermakers at this point?

I may have to seize the cat.

See. I have this vision in which there are Allyson-and-Kristen commentaries available for download. Kevin said he'd do all the tech stuff, which unless he's gonna fly out to Cali would mostly involve hosting the files, I think (and I must admit, TI.org makes more sense as a host for such a project than jossisahottie.com does). Am I the only person who thinks of this as a genuine, honest-to-Kitty possibility?

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

And I should stop reading other boards.

Oh, duh, you're Merciless. And here I thought there was some other person running around with inside Inside information. Geez, I'm dumb. I responded to that guy too.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

You should stop even talking about it, because now I'm getting all morbidly curious and want to know where these other boards are so I can spectate on the trainwrecks and hate on everyone's pathological clue deficit. I know no good can come of it, and yet I want to.

I know I've hardly checked in on this thread at all before, but damn, I'm sorry. I've been quietly watching and watching and getting slowly drawn in by the stories, the darkly beautiful and horrifying look of the show, the excellent ensemble. It deserves better marketing, a bigger push, just more of a chance.

Should be noted that Buffy would have been canceled after four episodes if it aired on FOX, today.

Yup. It's infuriating and discouraging and crazy-making. I keep looking back through the mists of time to MSCL, the first time I got involved in fandom and save-our-show efforts; I can remember how outraged everyone was that we only got the one season, just 19 lousy episodes, and that the writers were already working on scripts for the second season and we'd never see them and it was just so unfair. And now, fuck! 19 whole episodes that actually all aired, in order, without the fans having to beg and whine at the DVD-marketing arm of whoever owned the show seems like such an unbelievable luxury.

I can throw large paragraphs at your screen, if it may help.

I believe it's safe to say that large Nilly paragraphs always help.
