Eastwood's more of a Libertarian, I think. He ran for Mayor because he was pissed off at the town council when they wouldn't let him renovate the hotel he owned, or something. And then he got sued because he hadn't renovated it enough, so he might have had a point.

It wasn't a mistake. It's just that when they went back and looked at all the records, they figured out that the guy who named a skeleton apatosaurus came before the guy who named the same thing brontosaurus.
