One thing about soaps - due to sheer quantity of time spent - best training ground for actor/actress ever. If you don't act well but are lucky enough to land a part on a soap, and have a spark of talent - by end of your run you will know how to act. If you are already good, by the time you finish you will be better.
I wouldn't agree Typo. There are fabulous actors on soaps and some big names that started on soaps. (Not necessarily the same thing.) Soaps shoot so fast that actors can learn a lot of lazy acting habits. Soaps seem to have more than their fair share of smell the fart acting. They do learn to memorize a lot of lines and work fast in front of a camera.
I've always thought that live theatre did a better job of breeding actors than soaps, partially because they got to explore the same lines and actions over and over again and try different nuances.
Topic!Cindy: Heh. Thanks.
bon bon: I meant more from the viewing point of, uhm, view. On the other hand, they wouldn't be if poeople didn't watch.
And it's true, there's a lot of things I don't get. Maybe I'm a happier man for it. Ignorance is after all supposed to be bliss, I guess. So I shall keep on being ignorant of daytime soaps, and instead once again note, as I just happened to catch the first 4400, how much Peter Coyotes face and voice amazes me. What a man. Almost makes me wish I was gay.
And I say almost, 'cause if I were, I couldn't have that giant crush on Kristen Bell, and my little universe would probobly be poorer for it.
Anyways. Uhm. More coffee.
by end of your run you will know how to act
Hah. No, I think some people will reach the end of their potential, and come up short on the acting stakes. I mean, everyone has their limits, I firmly believe.
However, I think you'll learn how to act quickly. No time to futz and piss around -- however, that doesn't mean you'll be able to properly use the "luxury" of a weekly show, nor shift to meet the new expectations.
You guys are freaking me out with all the soap talk!
What's freaking me out is how much of this I remember. And I don't even watch the soaps.
I only remember bits and pieces.
My favorite Marley/Vicki will always remain Anne Heche. It created a fondness for her that has yet to be replaced by her insanity.
I'm trying to find the posts that lead to Nilly coming to the US for an essay I'm writing.
Did that occur in Minearverse 1?
Allyson it's in Minearverse 1. Starting at post 4578.
I clearly cannot Nilly as Nilly does, but I can do the job with enough time.
It's in the Attic, isn't it? Whenever I try and download a thread, my computer gets sick and throws up. Bleh.
