And Erica Caine was only like on husband number 2 or 3, Mike the adventurer I think.

Actually, husband no. 2 was Phil Brent (once upon a time, played by BSG’s Richard Hatch, but by the time Erica married Phil, Hatch had already moved onto "Streets of San Francisco"), and no. 3 was Tom Cudahy. Adam Chandler was no. 4, and Mike Roy was nos. 5 & 6…but they weren’t legal.

ETA: Okay, as best as I can remember it...

Erica Kane Martin Brent Cudahy Chandler Roy Roy (but they weren't legal) Montgomery Montgomery (but, thanks to Adam sending Stuart in his place to divorce Erica, the two marriages to Travis aren't legal, either) Chandler (Adam blackmailed her back into marriage w/ the knowledge that Bianca was actually illegitimate) Marick Marick Montgomery.

and he and Caroline Brady are stuck on some island.

Heh. What would DAYS be w/out someone, or a group of someones, getting stuck on an island? "Cruise of Deception," anyone?

The girl that got drunk was, I think, Terri, who was maybe Bobbi's step-daughter, or daughter of one of Bobbi's boyfriends, but I disremember who--maybe one who was killed by the mob.

Terri Brock was Bobbie’s stepdaughter from her marriage to abusive D.L. Brock (played by the guy who married Rhoda on, well, “Rhoda”). I don’t remember much about Terri, except she was played by Crystal Bernard’s sister (and I remembered CB from “It’s a Living” back then, not “Wings”), and Shaun Cassidy played her brainwashed love interest...and that someone plotted to blow up Mount Rushmore during one of Terri’s performances.

ETA: Dusty. Shaun's character's name was Dusty Walker. Any wonder why I flunked college algebra?

That was a crazy storyline with Bobbi and Terri and the stuff from their past - there were the two brothers from etheir hometown and one of them murdered someone - somehow they tied in with Lucy COE (I remembered).

Oh, you’re talking about the O’Connor boys (a story which, btw, was penned by “Passions”’s James E. Reilly). That story went on for months! Pure agony.

On the soap she hooked up with a skeevy-guy-with-a-heart-of-gold-sort-of-eventually named Nick?

Yep, Eve Donovan (Charlotte Ross) hooked up for a time w/ Nick Corelli (you know, when he wasn’t pimping her?); but if Nick’s heart was made of gold, it must’ve been 14 karat, because he wound up getting murdered (by Emilio Ramirez, I think) one Halloween night.

But who was her mother? It was like Shane's presumed dead first wife who was also an ISA agent or something?

Right. Gabrielle Pascal, played by “Blue Car” director Karen Moncrieff.

Well I don't know how old she was at the time (mid 1971) but I think that she was just a baby then too.

Jennifer Horton (DAYS) couldn’t have been born in ’71, because Laura was still married to Mickey…and still keeping it secret that Michael wasn’t his son.

the stuff I am remembering from AMC was a B storyline about Nina Cortland's mother being in town, but unknown to Palmer Cortland.

OMG, Daisy Cortlandt! Remember when she came to Pine Valley as Monique Jonvil, and befriended Nina (who didn’t know she was her mother)? And how she was finally unmasked (by Palmer) at the masquerade ball at Cortlandt Manor? And Palmer (and his Doberman pinchers) then chased her into the barn? I (heart)ed that story.

Cruz and Eden - now there was a couple.

This Mason and Julia fan will pretend you never said that.

By any chance, are there any other "Guiding Light" fans in attendance? QUOLAHOLICS UNITE.

Mason and Julia were fab. Actually, one of my favorites. Snarky.

I had such high hopes when Lane and Nancy were reunited on GH. Sadly, I don't think GH knew what to do with them.

JenP - Aug 05, 2005 10:28:53 pm PDT #2376 of 10001

Oh, I know. Tragic waste, that. I mean, they had to know, right? I just assumed that's why they brought him on, and then... eh. Fizzle. They don't really seem to know what to do with Alexis, which is a damn shame. At least they're smart enough to hold on to her.

What is even happening?

QUIZ TIME!

If you locked Anthony Geary, Maurice Benard and James Marsters on a closed set, who would chew the most scenery in the shortest amount of time?

It's close, but I'm going to go with Maurice Bernard, by a hair.

Jennifer Rose Horton was born on September 11, 1976 to Bill and Laura Horton.
My parents have some serious explaining to do. Bad enough they had teh sex...
Mom has absolutely no explanation. Swears the name was from a soap opera, swears that only my dad watched them and he only watched DooL. Whatever. I think they found me in a cabbage patch. When I was five. And before that I was nameless. In the cabbage patch. Because they never had teh sex
Cass, you know what this means, don't you? You were SORASed!
I'm lost. I watched General Hospital.
i'm a GH girl too, Allyson. though i can't say that i even watch it anymore. it isn't GH now. it's Sonny and the Mob.
That's all right. They're all connected.

  • The Adrienne (Days)/Paulina(AW) characters everyone was talking about ended up with a character named Justin Kiriakis, and that actor went on to GH, to play Ned Quartermaine.

  • Billy Warlock, who is back on DooL as Frankie, played one of the better versions of A.J. Quartermaine.

  • Genie Francis (Laura, of GH's Luke and Laura) played Diana Colville, who was involved with John Black (I think), on DooL, possibly when he thought he was Roman.

  • Patch/Steve and Kayla? Stephan Cassidine and Katherine Bell Ashton.

  • Matthew Ashford, who plays the one, true Jack on DooL, had a turn as Dr. Tom Hardy on GH.

  • Jensen Buchanen, who played Vicki on Another World, also played a nurse on GH for a season or so (imdb says the nurse's name was Melissa Bedford)

  • Steve Burton, who has played the one, true Jason Quartermaine/Morgan character on GH, played a character called Harris Michaels on DooL.

  • Maree Cheatham, who played Charlene Simpson on GH, played Sister Marie (Horton) on DooL

  • For a hattrick+, Denise Alexander who first played Susan Hunter Martin on DooL, and is probably best known for playing Laura's mother--Dr. Lesley Webber on GH, also played Mary McKinnon on AW. As a bonus for Kristen, it appears she was on Sunset Beach, as well.

  • Lynn Herring, who plays (played?) Lucy Coe on GH, for years, took a turn on DooL as Lisanne Gardner (I believe a lover of Lawrence Alamain)

yeah. he's been in the witness protection program. yada yada yada. then they paired him with Felicia and i wanted to yak.

I think I stopped watching GH when they were setting up Felicia and Luke. I got so damned tired of Felicia. She was never really all that without either Frisco, or the way extra long soap opera hair. She has that whiny baby voice. Ugh.

Oh! Largo comes through with the Terri Brock backstory! I'd forgotten all about Shaun Cassidy. That was impressive, Largo!

Mason and Julia were fab. Actually, one of my favorites. Snarky.

I must have stopped watching GH when he came on. But Nancy Grahn is one of those actors I'd watch in anything.

Tim should create a soap, or use a bunch of soap actors in his next show. The ones who can act are well-trained. You won't find any problem with them learning their lines. They learn books of dialog per week. If he cast Anthony Geary and Genie Francis, he might be guaranteed a hit, just based on the L/L cult. The demographics, however, might be a little too old, for the networks. Dammit.

To bring it back to one of our 'verses, at least. Emma Caulfield (Anya/BtVS) played Lorraine Miller (friend/enemy of Carly--Bobbi Spenser's daughter) on GH.

What is even happening?

Oh, does anyone know if Michael Easton was the actor who played Liam's friend that came out of the pub with him, and promptly passed out on the road, right before Liam went into the alley and was sired by Darla?

I don't see him credited, but it looks like him. Easton played Tanner on DooL, who may have been involved with Eve, and definitely was invovled with Melinda Clarke's (now of The O.C.) character, Faith.

Melinda is the daughter of the original and one, true Mickey Horton, John Clarke, on DooL. Michael Easton went on, either to GH and/or its spin-off, Port Charles, where he played a character named Caleb, who was possibly a vampire. It appears he was on a series called VR.5 with Anthony Stewart Head, as well.

Kitsunegari

Wait, Tim was to blame responsible for the shapeshifting were-fox episode?

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Oh! *light bulb* That must be where he first met Diana Scarwid (Karen from WF.) She rocked in that role, although I didn't quite buy Modell's change of heart.

Oh! Largo comes through with the Terri Brock backstory! I'd forgotten all about Shaun Cassidy. That was impressive, Largo!

What can I say? Some people collect comic books....

Speaking of DAYS/GH connections: who is responsible for Luke & Laura (GH), the pre-WGA strike part of the Ice Princess story (GH), Jennifer Horton (DAYS), Roman & Marlena (DAYS), the Salem Strangler (DAYS), and the Brady and DiMera clans (DAYS)? Yep. Pat Falken Smith. And Leah Laiman and Thom Racina (who came up w/ Mikkos Cassadine's weather machine), who wrote the actual nuptials for L&L (GH), also wrote the bulk of the Shane/Kimberly, Patch/Kayla, Bo/Hope, Jack/Jennifer, Roman/Diana, and Justin/Adrienne romances (DAYS).

GL fans detest her, "Ryan's Hope" fans probably spit on her grave, but DAYS and GH fans have a lot to thank PFS for.

ETA: GL fans also detest Sheri Anderson, and she worked on all those stories on DAYS and GH!
