When you look back at this, in the three seconds it'll take you to turn to dust, I think you'll find the mistake was touching my stuff.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

On the news. Grr. Some muckety-muck in the government is saying that cities and states need to pay more of the security costs for public transportaion, that the federal government is already spending a fortune on airplanes. As he put it..."An airplane can kill 3,000 people. A bomb on a subway might kill thirty."

Lovely. And for the two-fer, the Senate has just reaffirmed the principle that rural Wyoming needs just as much if not much much more protection as do NYC, LA, etc.

Oh, I'm sure my brother and SIL would agree he was useful. They tolerate the red menace for the reasons you listed.

What is even happening?

How old are their children, sara? Tolerance may yet bloom into love, or at least loyalty. This tender feeling may be bolstered by the idiocy of the shows their children will want to watch, once they've outgrown Elmo & co.

Right now Cyberchase is King with both my kids. Postcards from Buster comes in a close second for my daughter.

I like Cyberchase. It sneakily promotes thinking. The same is true for Blue's Clues (Steve was far superior to Joe, though, imo). I like most of the shows on Noggin, too. And I love the Noggin music.

This summer, we're limiting TV, though. This is making me UNpopular.

The nephew is just 2.5. They don't avoid the elmo, not at all. They just find him really really annoying, but the kid loves him, so....

I can't even.

Speaking of TDS, Jon was en fuego last night with Bernard "Fathead" Goldberg.

I love it when Jon doesn't let people away with their crap. His point of "you're a smart guy, why are you writing about Barbra Streisand instead of Karl Rove?" was dead on, and Goldberg couldn't wiggle away from it.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Remember the craxy bride from yesterday with the three showers? We had dinner last night, and I was able to calmly discuss my issues. I discovered that

1. the reason that MIL is having a shower is because none of his relatives will leave Baltimore except for the wedding

2. Is is NOT her idea to invite every female invited to the wedding to the shower, she didnt' even know that's what the "plan" was.

3. She suggested doing smaller numbers for the bachelorette party/wine tour, to lower cost, but "(bridesmaid) didn't seem enthusiastic about that"

4. She says that she has nothing to do with any of the showers, she's just being told when to show up.

Isn't that interesting? I said "honey, you need to remind people that this is your fucking wedding, and while you don't want to be a bridezilla, they shouldn't do things that inconvenience YOU"

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I just found out a friend of mine from Germany is going to be moving to Boston for the fall. Yay! And he's asking my assistance in finding an apartment, which I'm totally willing to do, but I'm not sure where to look, not actually being in Boston or the Boston apartment market at all. Can anyone give me pointers? I guess craigslist is the obvious place to start...
