Okay, when have weddings gotten so damn out of hand, BEFORE the actual wedding. A good friend is getting married, I am in the wedding, I am proud and excited. or was. First, I discovered that the bridesmaids were expected to attend an event to sew their own skirts. I don't sew, nor do I want to spend a day sitting around watching other people sew. I said "give me the pattern, I'll have my seamstress do it". The bride says "well there isn't really a pattern", so she has to sew my skirt. As it happens, I am out of town for the "stitch and bitch", so it's fine.
THEN, I find out that the bride is having THREE showers, PLUS a "bachelorette" party. It is clear from the emails that i have been receiving that all of the bridesmaids are expected to help with "our" shower, which includes all of the female invitees to the wedding, which is SIXTY people. I just got an email this morning regarding the "bachelorette party", which is a wine tour that will cost $150 per person.
Is it just me, or is this over the top? I know that I am very sensistive about money these days because I just bought a goddamn house, but I'm looking at at LEAST $500 BEFORE I buy a gift!!
jesus. fucking Santorum. fucking fucktard.
I have no patience today.
Well, in good news, Santorum is behind in the polls for the next election.
Maybe, but he's still in the Senate now.
And election day is a long way off.

Um. That is craxxy. Also, my impression is that people in the wedding party do not need to buy a gift, 'cause of all the shower expenses etc. At least, that's what I've heard. I may not know so many insane-o bridezilla types though.
The pre wedding stuff? @@
And that's all I'll say about that.
Is it just me, or is this over the top?
Will you be expected to make your own individual wedding cupcakes, too? That seems like rather a lot of muchness there.
too much money. and really - the bride is telling the bridesmaids that " this is your shower" and the bachlorette thing - I'm confused.
Holy crap, Vortex, that is freaking insane. Damn.
vortex, I'd be looking for any excuse to not attend any event you can't afford or don't feel obligated. It's one thing to expect someone to pick up their expenses for being in the wedding party and *maybe* a shower OR a bachelor/bachelorette party. Anything beyond that is fucking ridiculous and I would say, "gee, sorry, I can participate in x event and that's all I can do."
Sewing your own skirts? With no pattern? A wine tour? Three showers? Bridezilla City. Too craxy for words.
The best line I've heard about Rick Santorum is "The 'p' is silent".
Wow. I really like the Smart Roadster.
It's roadster year in the car industry.
There's a new Miata.

There's the new Pontiac Solstice [link]
There's a new Mercedes SLK

There's the Saturn Sky next year [link]
And there's the new Ford Mustang convertibles (not really roadsters).
