Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I think I'm having a problem with squinting because the monitor faces a big, sunny window.

When you look to either side or above your monitor, the lighting level should be the same as your monitor.

I had to disconnect a bunch of bulbs in my office, as it was way too bright.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

I think I'm having a problem with squinting because the monitor faces a big, sunny window.

This is me. The light level is perfect in the morning and way too bright for most of the afternoon. But I'm too lazy to climb over my desk and put the shades down.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Wow. I really like the Smart Roadster.

It's been a while since we had a happy things question, so...

What's something that's made you smile in the last few days?

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Also, a few weeks ago Newsweek had an interview with an engineer from Honda's NA division. I have loved all Hondas I or my family have ever owned, but after reading the interview, I'm ready to say I'll never own another make.

To clarify, I mean any other make than Honda. The guy said something about when he was first working there, boss man had asked him to make the car more fuel efficient. He told the boss man that consumers weren't interested in fuel efficiency (this was a while back). Boss man said, "I know." The engineer said he's embarassed about it now.

The article is in the 6/27 issue, or at least that's what it said when I searched the archives. I'd paste it, but I'm not paying $2.95 to get a direct quote.

ETA: Ah hah! Here [link]

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

And the relevant quote.

I'll never forget it. I was a rookie leading this MDX team. We'd done the research and we had an efficient package. But when we pitched our business plan to the board of directors, Mr. [Koichi] Amemiya, who was in charge of North America, his No. 1 comment was: "It should be more green." I made the mistake of saying, "But sir, nobody cares about the green issues." And he just smiled and said "I know."

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I went crazy at work last week and made them take the horrible lcd monitor away, for it was causing me to feel headachey.

They gave me back the old beast. Increasing resolution made everything too small and hurt my eyes and head. Decreasing it made everything blurry. When I called the help desk about it they asked if I couldn't just get used to it.

Which sent me into a rage and I demanded my old square monitor back. I said that when my job was to watch DVDs all day, I'd get the huge lcd. And not until.

But now my computer logs me off the net if i walk away from it after 15 minutes, and i dunno why.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

It's hot here. If walking from my car to the condo(with a stop to get the mail) can make my skin radiate heat like a furnace, you know it's hot.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

From the Panda article --

Guo Guo appeared flustered by her crying cubs at first and reserve staff had to intervene when she accidentally dropped one of her babies the day they were born,

oh, like that's never happened to a human mom!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

they asked if I couldn't just get used to it.

They need to be attacked by ergonomizers.

I've been offered an LCD monitor, but, frankly, replace 22" and 2048x1536 resolution? I don't know if that's on the LCD market, and if it is, they certainly can't afford it. So my beast is eating desk space and forcing me to sit in the hallway.

But I get just as many headaches with LCDs and lower res displays, so I know it's not that. I still wear my reading glasses, just in case.
